Stripe problems

I was trying to set up my stripe account to start selling my patterns on ribblr, however I didnt feel comfortable adding my bank password and some of my social security number. Could ribblr maybe add different payment methods like maybe paypal, venmo, or square? Thanks in advance :heart_hands: @Ribblr

this would be nice! though, im pretty sure that those also require that info, and you cant use paypal if you are under 18 :smiling_face_with_tear:

Something about stripe just dosent sit with me right :sob: I trust paypal a lot more and I think there should be more payment options (:

Monetary transactions aren’t a simple thing security wise, so unfortunately all the other payment methods will also require bank verification and an SSN to be sure the money goes to and from the right people.

Square would be SUPER helpful

Venmo or paypal as well but if there was multiple options, each creator could have their own payment options maybe?

Yeah, my mom thinks stripe is sketchy even though I told it was trustable.
I think adding Paypal or Venmo as another payment option would be nice!!

I have PayPal, Venmo, and Stripe accounts

All of them asked for financial and identity information, including SSN

They all need information to know that you are who you say you are

NONE asked for my online banking username or password

Thats very odd, when I clicked the bank I use, it asked for my banking username and password.

It asked me for my banking information but I don’t believe it asked for my online username or password

Thank you for suggesting!

Stripe is indeed a reputable and trustworthy company, trusted by leading companies worldwide such as Google, Amazon and more.

It’s a very complex process to integrate multiple services - compliance, legal to name a few as well as fees which are often much higher on the likes of PayPal.
This isn’t to say we won’t be attempting to provide more options in the future, but our team has tackled this several times in our 3.5 years journey and have realized it’s a complex process that will take a long time - we don’t anticipate it to change in 2024 as of now.

When I signed up for Stripe I don’t recall it asking me for anything but my DL info and my banking info. No password, just the typical stuff that was asked with PayPal. I’ve had several trustworthy transactions with Stripe.

For banking, it wanted the routing number and account number, but not my online username and password. Stripe takes from my credit card of choice anyway, it has never charged my checking account.

Stripe won’t ask for any security details such as bank credentials. In order to pay you, they may ask for your bank account details, but never credentials.
If in doubt reach out to their support at: Stripe: Help & Support
