(1) i pick a big blob out of my stuffing, preferably a little bit bigger than the actual plushie. (2) i then go in and lay each side with a thin, but not too thin layer. (3) if i have yarn scraps in need of recycling, iâll put them in that hole between the layers. thatâs optional. (4) finally i go in and add more until it gets to the top. unless itâs a small space, i donât actually stuff as i go, because it gets in the way of my crochet. (5) i like when a pattern says âfinish stuffingâ because thatâs when i stuff it up again, repeating step 3 without layering the sides, until it gets to the top. (6) then i crochet to the end and close off!
apologies for the wall of text, i really wanted to make it clear.
What I do is instead of ripping it in many small clumps, I gently halfway-rip it so its on the verge of ripping apart but still staying together. then I do this a few more times and stuff it in :p
in all honesty, i just wing it- i always use yarn scraps or cut off yarn i know i wont use, since i dont have any stuffing. i dunno if that makes a difference, but i rarely worry about overstuffing/stuffing too little.
i suppose itâs like, just enough to make the amigurumi look uh amigurumi-y, but not to stretch the stitches, and able to squish slightly but easily put back in shape??
