Stuffing Help, I Beg of You.

Y’all, help. I’ve been crocheting for over a year now, and the thing that CONSTANTLY gets me is stuffing. I overstuff, I usually understuff, my projects are lumpy, they’re uneven, and it’s never been clearer than when I’ve been making this giant goose. The thing is INSANELY lumpy, and I don’t know what to do :sob:. I’m desperate, someone help :sob:.

Ignore the horrible spelling/grammar, I’m still kinda sick and partially delirious.

ok so what I learned was if you stuff in pieces and roll it around in your hands, its supposed to help

Make sure to poke it in but just put plenty in and then take it out as you go.

While I’m stuffing my pieces, I normally separate out my stuffing as I add it in to mitigate lumps. what I also recommend doing is stuffing enough for it to retain its original shape after being squished.

Kinda just like manipulate the pieces so the stuffing is better dispersed as needed.

I tried that, but I just don’t really see what it’s doing ToT.

Like put a lot in. It helps to poke it. And then as you look at it, remove a little at a time. It’ll eventually start to look right.

This is what I’ve found works best

Pro tip: Stuff from the outside in, regardless of what stuffing you use.

Start by adding some stuffing, then reach in and start shaping the stuffing along the sides. You’re essentially creating a little fluff nest. Then add more and repeat pushing it outward so it fills in by adding padding to the bottom and sides as you go. This creates even stuffing no matter if the goal is firm or soft.

You know put the thing in the thing and then use a thing to test the things. Once your things are thinging right you finish the thing and boom your thig is perfectly thinged

I know it makes perfect sense

Idk either :sob: I overstuff like crazy and if I try to fix that it’s so under stuffed that there might as well not be any stuffing

I stuff much like this. I push in balls of stuffing and kind of spread them along the outside from the middle of the plush. This allows me to get a smooth exterior. Then I just stuff the middle from the bottom up to the firmness I want it to be.

I learned how to stuff well from here :3

Stuffing once you find your niche with it seems like a battle. My suggestion here is to take a small amount and place it around at the base first then around the sides as you go leaving a hole in the middle if that makes sense. It’s how I’ve done it since my first Amigurumi. I stuff a lot myself but I suppose it’s all in your own techniques that might just need a tweek.

For stuffing I rip it apart it makes it fluffy!! And then I usually stuff as I go. So just rip all the stuffing you are using as you are going through it. if you can see your stuffing through your stitches it is too much!

That is what do too :slightly_smiling_face:

I stuff using really small pieces and it helps things not turn out lumpy
