sweater care

hello! so, bit of a dumb question, but can you use a lint roller on a sweater you crochet? i wanted to use one to get rid of the fuzzies that happen when crocheting, but i don’t want to destroy something I’ve been working on for weeks

I think so because I js crocheted a cardigan and I used a fabric shaver on it and it was a lil harsh but nothing bad happened

I would say generally, yes you could use a lint roller, but always test on a less noticeable area first. However, if the effectiveness is lacking/your pills are particularly stubborn or it is somehow making things worse, you can (carefully) use a fabric shaver (as mentioned above), if that’s easily available to you. They work wonders for getting rid of fuzzies and pilling, and I personally haven’t had any issues with mine. :sparkles: I’ve also heard of people using sweater stones (aka pumice stones) & combs, which I haven’t tried myself, but sounds mighty interesting!

Test on a swatch of the same yarn to see how well it works first

I work with plush yarn, and because it sheads so much, i keep a lent roller handy and its never hurt any of the amigurumis ive made.

Just treat it like a normal fabric. Most sweaters are made of yarn and those can be lint rolled and washed

Depends on what it is made of, lint roller yes on anything. Fabric shaver depends. I use a lint roller and fabric shaver in all of the tapestries I make to make them a little more crispy looking but they’re made from flat acrylic. If it has mohair I’d say no, but if you’re also worried about hair in general, you can put it in a fluff (no heat) cycle in the dryer with a wool ball or dryer sheet for a refresh.
