I’ve been crocheting a sweater for a while and just realized I made the back panel a the width of a large instead of a medium, like I planned. The sweater is made in two panels and then the sleeves and hood is crochet off of them. Is there anything I can do to make it a medium size again, or am I better just leaving it large? I was thinking just making the front panel shorter, but then the sleeves would be off. If I don’t change anything, should I make the length the same to match or will it look fine as a medium length and large width? I’ve never crocheted a sweater before and I really want this one to turn out well! Any suggestions would be appreciated!
it will just be on a loser side when worn, the great thing about sweaters is that the width and length is usually customizable. of course the front panel should be made the same width too :) if you do want a form-fitting sweater, then you should propably frog the panel and start again, there isn’t really anything else to do.
you can then compensate by making the sleeves shorter, so that it looks like it’s made to fit! hope this helps :3
I was worried there isn’t anything that can be done except start over. Thanks for the advice, though!
You could just have it be a more oversized sweater and keep it, just sl st the two together and it may look a bit wonky, but I’m sure it would work! Here is a photo for reference:
So you could just slst the two together down the middle then fold it and sl st like this:
The bigger panel would just not be as centered, then just leave holes on the sides for the sleeves, then sl st/sew on the arms
So it would end up looking SOMETHING like this:
Hope this helps!

And I hope this was useful

Huh. That’s a great idea! Although, I already made the front panel as big as the back, and I don’t really feel like frogging 6 hours of work. But that’s a great idea! I really appreciate it!
Of course
