Tapestry colour changes

I am currently trying to start tapestry crocheting by my projects keep looking a bit wonky because of how im colour changing do you have any suggested color changing methods to help it look better. It would be helpful if you can also link a video that would be helpful but not necessary.

You’re always going to have a bit of a v in color changes, but if you pull the new color through your last stitch instead of finishing that stitch with your current color, that does wonders.

It also helps not to carry your yarn under another color, as often it can be seen and take away image clarity.

The pink pillow uses the method I just mentioned.

Love this thread but have not tried tapestry as yet.

I definitely agree on not crocheting over any unworked color. It makes its far too bulky and I made that mistake a lot when I started.

This video helped me a ton. Specifically at 6:23. Working in the blo when you have a different color from the previous row makes color changes even more clean.

Are you using the same kind of yarn but in different colours? Same weight/ply and material (and maybe even brand) should make it look more even otherwise, I think.

I’m still trying out different techniques to find out what works best for me so I hope you get some good advice here, I need it too

Edited to add:
I’ve saved this video but haven’t watched the whole thing yet, maybe this could be helpful?

Act like your doing a sc but instead of pulling through both loops, on the loop you’re pulling through the 2, let it be your new color

Be careful, it is highly addictive

It instantly became one of my favorite styles the moment I tried it, and there are lots of different ways to work it. Admittedly, I’m not big on the C2C version, but that’s probably because I always lose my count with it hah…
