tapestry crochet help!

hi everyone! first post here because i’m really in need of some advice— mostly from those familiar with tapestry crochet in particular!

i am currently finishing up my first ever tapestry crochet, and its super super lumpy — should i cut the back of it where i’ve carried over the yarn? i heard blocking helps a lot — im not too familiar with it but i will be looking for tutorials

i’m also planning to turn this into a tote bag, so that would probably play a part in it. how should i go about this?

If you cut the yarns in the back it would fall apart. Next time, make sure to leave it looser. Blocking may help. Get it wet, pin it the way you want it to dry. And let it sit. Maybe when the tight yarns are wet in the back, you could tug them just a bit to help lengthen them a bit more. Picture would be great. But a lumpy first ever tapestry bag sounds adorable to me. Good job either way.

You could cut the strands that are causing it to be lumpy, but you’d need to make sure you weave in all of them so that they are secure.

thank you so much for the tip! i’ll definitely keep that in mind, and possibly try blocking first :) i’m still working on the last few rows, but when possible i’ll post a photo for the community.
