Tester call for Crochet: Felted Frog Hat

I need testers for my Felted Frog Hat - Crochet ePattern
Due Date: January 24, 2026
Additional Requirements:

  1. You will need 100% wool yarn worsted weight for this project (not superwash wool, it has to be able to felt)
  2. Keep all pattern feedback in the tester email
  3. Once finished, post a journal with a minimum of one photo of your finished hat. You can post it to your social media if you like, but it is not required.
  4. If you are unable to finish the test for any reason, please let me know! If you ghost me I might block you from future pattern tests, but if you keep me informed I appreciate the honesty and communication.

It’s a cute hat. Sad I’m allergic to wool.

I’m so sorry you have a wool allergy! I’m happy you find the hat to be cute though. :frog:

I would love to make but you said it’s with wool.

Yeah, and it does have to be wool since it’s made to shrink in the wash to your desired size. I will have more pattern tests in the future though, so if you like my stuff keep an eye out!

(I just got some wool from my mom and have been messing around with it, having tons of fun but it’s not gonna last forever.)

Sound good. I understand that wool shrink.

Still looking for a couple more testers!

Do you crochet then felt it?

Yes! If you haven’t felted before, it’s just tossing your project in the washing machine on a hot water cycle.

Cool. I have wet and needle felted before, but dont have any wool yarn. Otherwise I’d volunteer to test.

I would like to test this! How many yards of wool did this piece take? Is this needle felted, wet felted or dryer felted?

About 600 yards, it’s double stranded with worsted weight. Or if you can find a size 5 wool, 300 yards. It’s wet felted in the washer. :)

Can I test?? This is sooo cute! I’ve been wanting to make a frog hat forever! Sadly I don’t have wool yarn, but is it okay if I don’t use it? My mom says I have enough yarn :joy:. :frog::frog::frog:

Will this be a paid pattern??

Sadly the yarn will have to be 100% wool. Wool shrinks and felts in the wash so if you made a hat with another material it would remain comically large. Planning on having this as a paid pattern, especially in this economy, but I do tend to have all my patterns at $3 or less on Ribblr.

I would love to test! I found a Skein of wool!

You can help test, but you will need either 300 yards of a weight 5 yarn, or 600 yards of a weight 4 so you can double strand it for this hat.
