I used a 4mm hook and a weight 4 cotton yarn 
btw this pattern is super beginner friendly so I think you could do it even with no experience of making wearables

Can you tell me how much yarn it took of each color? Is it made to measure or standard size? Are you strict with the colors? I’m so tempted.

I weighed the whole thing and for me (I am a size S) it is 100g in total. The 2nd color is only used for details so keep in mind you will need much less than the main color

SUUPER CUTEE!! I have a bit of random yarn that i need to use, so I’d probably use white as the base colour and pink as the accent colour!! Both weight 4 and a 5 or 4 mm hook.
