There’s been a couple instances now where a user has applied to a to a tester call but they have no chat or message functionality enabled. This prevents the designer from making a group chat. Plus this prevents the designer from getting information from the tester.
I don’t believe a user should be allowed to apply to test if they have no chat/message function. It’s not beneficial to the designer. And the tester gets dinged because most likely they will be removed from testing and will show a failed test. Is there a way to tell the tester they can’t apply unless they enable messaging? Or deny them if they can’t do messaging?
Both are possible. I haven’t personally faced this but this was faced by another yesterday and I’m sure it could be an issue for others that just hasn’t been brought up.
I require everyone to post in the community before I accept so I would be able to check but that doesn’t necessarily apply to all designers and some might not even realize so hence why I think it should be handled at the application stage
I agree with this!! It’s really annoying when I try to make the chat and one person matters it impossible. I just end up removing them so I can make it
I would DM Ribblr the details/screenshots “just in case” it is a technical glitch of the tester group messaging process or perhaps a glitch in the tester’s own account settings
Sometimes the user has no choice. My old account was a school account and it automatically blocked all chat functions on all social websites, like Ribblr. Most kids nowadays have other accounts or devices, but there are still some that do not.
Understand, but when a tester has no way to provide feedback, it doesn’t provide any help to the designer =/ basically you’re giving them a free pattern with nothing in return unless they realize to put changes in the journal
Thanks!
Unfortunately there’s not much to do here as users can change that at any moment. However we haven’t seen this as an issue before so if you do come across this in the future please message us so we can have a better understanding of what is happening and how it can be resolved.
At least clarify in the testing guidelines that both designers and testers need to ensure that they have messaging is enabled (& provide instructions as to how to enable it if it is disabled)
Is messaging automatically enabled or do you have to reach a certain level of membership to have it enabled?
