I’m testing another pattern and I as a designer also face a similar issue, when reporting issues, you have to rely on testers making loads of screenshots and drawings, or finding lines yourself.
To avoid all that unnecessary work, I suggest that a tester could have an option to right-click (or hold on mobile, maybe a side menu) and have an option to report a specific row which ribblr would automatically display and insert a hyperlink to that row in the pattern (similar to how quotes work) into the testers group chat, also allowing for annotations to be written in the same message. It’d also be nice if they were stackable in a draft, that would keep them while you continue through the pattern (similar to how you can insert multiple quotes into the same post).
It would save some time going back and forth to the pattern and back and would allow for faster and easier testing.
oooo, this is actually a really cool idea! it would definitely make testing and corrections a whole lot easier. hopefully they’re able to implement this in some way!!
I only just started this journey into crochet and as a tool for learning decided to try testing. As a noob I am unsure how much weight my opinion carries but I do agree your idea. Having to explain and hope another understands (via message) is hard enough as it is.. add in specs and math..increases the difficulty.
Even if what you’re proposing is too “technically” difficult to program (not saying it is) but I would be happy (as a tester) to be able to “click” on the line (or a bubble) to highlight it for the designer. Maybe the bubble would automatically add our name (like a “flagged by..”) to inform the designer of whom to contact. Since we each log in, no one else should be able to override our “flag”, and the bubble (or comment similar to an Excel file) allows a quick note.
In typing this and realize that maybe we’re saying the same thing
Or that, yes, comments on the pattern itself, visible to testers and the designer, comments could be added there directly and just reported to the group chat that there’s new issues
Thanks for sharing! We’re working on a few similar things for testing actually
Though we have a few other things prioritised to be released earlier so that will likely come later this year.
This would be a great thing to have! I have also thought that we could quickly just switch from the group chat and the pattern, but this would be so much better
This is such a good idea especially because many of the patterns i make have multiple round ones (for different parts) so sometimes I’m confused when they just say “I found an error in round 1”
We are aware this is an area where we want to continue to improve on though, and we’re monitoring feedback to continue to iterate our roadmap.
The idea, though, is to make it easier for testers to mark the lines in questions and for designers to easily find those. On top of that, making it easier to jump between the testers group message and the pattern.
