Hi, im not sure if ribblr lets you talk about other apps but im feeling a bit helpless now, on my recent pattern for my gingerbresd man i picked 5 TESTERS and not ONE finished or even communicated, i was completely ghosted, i know i definetely made a groupchat as i double checked, im thinking i should start doing pattern tests on instagrwm as i see people seem to have a bit more luck on there with people actually communicating and finishing on time, so i want to know your guys opinion on whether or not you guys still want me to do tests on here or your sucess with doing. It on istagram x thankyou.
I’m sorry to hear that that happened to you, I know that sucks. For your next pattern test you could to half insta and half ribblr to help make a final decision. Best of luck <3
I’m sorry that happened to you I was actually wanting to test him for you but I had no brown yarn at the time, you could always do half and half but I don’t know how instagram is about getting your pattern back if they don’t complete it
I agree with what others have commented, trying out half and half would be worth it. But I think also keep in mind that this month has been quite busy for most which may have been a reason for fewer testers. Though I can sadly relate regarding testers not committing, but I feel like that could still happen on other platforms.
I’d like to mention I would have happily of tested but I did not see your tester call. I’m usually free most of the time and typically have most colours so if you do fall short on testers I’d happily fill in if needed. Hope you have a lovely Christmas
Omg your so sweett, thankyou so much x
And i hope you have a lovely christmas too x
Dunno but I’m glad you made this post, that made me go to Ur profile and I’m definitely gonna make Sth! Love leggy goose
Awww thankyou so much x!
OK SAMEE THO I TOTALLY RELATE TO U
what is your instagram??
And trying to help with topic, I think maybe u got unlucky with ppl and/or timming I participated in like 6 tester calls and it looked like most of them were pretty active. Probably most of ppl didn’t consider that they gonna crochet gifts for family and forgot about tests
I have had the same thing happening on my last few pattern tests, multiple testers did not respond to the group messages, or even those who said they would start on it never finished or responded again.
I do my pattern tests on Instagram as well and i have never had one from Instagram not finish. Maybe a day or two late but they at least communicated and completed it
I’m so sorry, I know that feel sucks
I do agree that this time of year is REALLY busy, but I still agree that when you apply for a test you shoukd be able to to have it done by the due date.
I can only speak on my experience of what I have found helpful for me:
- When picking testers: I try to pick about 1/3 to 1/2 that I know are reliable and will get it done on time. Then another 1/3 I pick based on who comments on my testing call. And the last spot or two I leave for someone with no karma (and has commented on the post). And maybe if there is room just one wildcard.
- When sending out the groupchat message, I am pretty firm on if there is no indication that they are around, they get removed after 3days.
- My most recent addition is: having two journals required. First the starting materials (due usually when half of the testing time period is reached) and a finished journal. If they are ynable to produce the journal(s) they are removed. And if they actually had intentions to finish (or have already started) they usually contact you asking what happened. I then ask for photo proof that they started to be added back into the group.
- I know that it might seem extreme. But this has helped me keep good testers and remove those who just aren’t able to meet all my requirements. I also try to give several warnings ahead of time.
- I also try to keep test applications open for 1-3 days to have a good variety apply. (Although I will say that my most reliable testers usually apply within the first day)
I should also add that I have high expectations that tests should be done BEFORE the due date. As a designer, I know how valuable a thorough read through is. And I find that testers who send in their project at the last minute don’t have much feedback to give (or if any).
I could say a lot more but I’ll just leave it here.
Oh no js pick ppl who u trust
oof- you might’ve picked a bad batch of testers
I don’t have Instagram yet so i wouldn’t be able to test for you
hopefully insta goes well if you do decide to use it!
Ribblr needs to have some accountability system in place. Some means of reporting testers (or designers) who don’t communicate. If the same person gets reported enough times, block them from applying for tests (or from setting up tests) for a certain amount of time.
I don’t intend to design nor do I intend to test. But I have seen a lot of threads on the internet on designers being ghosted by testers and from testers being ghosted by the designer. There should be some kind of system in place to discourage this
Agreed. At the very least have them loose Karma (thus having negative karma if they loose enough) if they fail to complete the test.
I loved your gingerbread man but had to much testings going on next to my other works I had to do for the holidays. And did the testings first, so I’m not able to finish my dress I wanted for Christmas Eve.
What I’ve noticed about looking for testers at insta, is that they always ask to tag 2-3 crocheting friends.
I’m not able to do that, 'cause all my crochetingfriends don’t have insta, nor do they have ribblr. That’s a pitty.
But I’m happy to test for you in the future if you’re looking for testers
I’ve always finished and communicated, sometimes (I think) a bit to diligent
Sorry this happened to you - that’s not okay.
Just to let you know - we are actively working on further improving our safe testing tools.
At this stage, our testing tools already provide a much better experience for all parties, as you can easily assign and remove testers as well as only let them see parts of your pattern. This gives you unique protection.
However, this does not mean our tools are perfect (yet ) and so feedback like yours can really help us elevate our tools further. Feel free to share more of your input here on in private - we’re always keen to improve and Ribblrs feedback is taken into consideration with every feature we plan to work on.
Any request that includes “tag this #…” will be ignored. I hate doing this. I refuse to tag anyone PLEASE don’t ask me to do it
Thankyou so much ribblr, i will definetely help as much as i can with feedback x
I agree from my experience I usually get great testers I add a bit more than I initially think I should because there most likely will be someone who ghosts…
