Sooooo I’ve noticed a couple of tester calls that don’t follow the t&c as well as testing guidelines for their tester calls. They either haven’t finished the pattern, don’t have photos of the pattern and “use a placeholder “, or it’s not even a pattern. To aid this, I think there should be a short and easy quiz on the t&c and testing guidelines when it comes to testing. Additionally, maybe a different quiz on the t&c before making your first pattern. Thats it! Thanks for reading my idea.

I think it’s a bit more testing focused than t&c… Tho I agree there could be a tutorial or quiz on testing, similar to the guides to ribbuild and such…

yeah I think so too! Some people don’t really understand or read through the t&c or testing guidelines before posting, so this could be a way to help them understand them and make sure they aren’t violating any rules

Would be good if people wanting to get their pattern tested understood that there is time involved. You don’t just post a tester call and never respond to questions and the post stays open indefinitely until there is finally a 5 days period of no comments when the post closes automatically. I feel that for most tester calls, testers should not be chosen until after the call is closed. When testers are chosen as they apply, it opens up the post to have people leave feedback there along with finished products instead of in a group chat for the pattern. Then the designer needs to be available for questions and feedback in the group chat.

also perhaps there should be some section about how exactly to create the testing gc, when to gift people the pattern, and how karma works. good idea though!

I agree there should be some sort of quiz/required guidelines. Similar to how some closed groups on FB require you to read rules then type a response before being accepted. Or on Etsy when buying a pattern insuring you know it’s a pattern not a finished product.
I’ve seen tester calls that also asked people to use canva or social media to do the testing which defeats the purpose of using ribblr’s testing zone and is less “secure” (if there is such a thing on the Internet 
)

I think a quiz over testing guidelines is a really good idea! I’m a little unsure about a full T&C quiz though, mostly because some parts of the T&C don’t seem consistently enforced and that could end up confusing newer users. If not come off as a little contradictory.
So I definitely agree on testing guidelines specifically, especially for first-time testers/designers. I could see this being a very helpful tool.
What might also help is revamping the testing zone into more of a structured forum submission. With fields that are required to be filled out before the test is submitted. Fields like:
- Testing requirements (yarn, notions, tools, etc)
- A pattern photo
- A start and end date for the test
- Difficulty level
- Amount of Testers the Designer is seeking
- Confirmation that the pattern is complete
- Confirmation that the pattern belongs to the poster
Similar to how designers have to confirm ownership before publishing a pattern to their shop. There can be an “about” field at the bottom where we can add additional information about the pattern, tag people, more photos, etc. If a field is missing, or not filled out then the person would get a kick-back error saying "The following field must be filled before testing call can be submitted)
Granted, that probably wouldn’t completely stop placeholder images or unfinished patterns, but I think it would help reduce low effort or misleading tester calls and make things more organized overall. Especially since you’re being made to fill the forum properly instead of the more “free range” forum we have currently.

I agree; being a tester and a slower crocheter, I’ve seen most always, the call is put out and the deadline noted and then not pick until two or three days later. The deadline needs to be changed to give all the assigned time. The test designer may crochet faster and needs to understand not all do the same.

Usually I give a week per hour. There should be like a standard/recommended amount of time based on hours.
