thrift store yarn haul!

(edit: i took photos of the yarn next to what i paid for the bundles, i forgot to include the hobbii yarn though lol)

i live in the US and we have a thrift store called goodwill, today i stopped by on a whim to look at craft supplies or garments/blankets to use as material.

i’ve NEVER seen so much yarn on sale… i didn’t get a picture of the shelf because i was quickly throwing things into my basket. i have somewhat of a feeling most of the yarn came from the same donation.

the first thing i saw was 600grams of premier 10% alpaca yarn. i spent 21$ for all of them. i then kept looking and found mixed bags of wool, cashmere, alpaca, and even possum? i’ve never EVER heard of possum fibers in yarn! and i saw a cute little skein of purple hobbii reflective yarn so i grabbed it, as purple is my favorite color. my total was 40$. most if not all of this yarn has not been used at all.

i am so excited! i’ll take better pics later, but i’m still reeling. i have a plan to make some hats on my Addi Express Kingsize with the premier alpaca yarn, i can make at least 6 i think.

have any of you folks ever had such a great yarn haul that you’re left buzzing?

i ended up getting many different fiber blends:
alpaca/acrylic;
100% rambouillet wool;
pima cotton/acrylic;
bamboo/merino wool;
wool/acrylic/cashmere;
peruvian highland wool/donegal tweed;
polwarth/alpaca/possum;
and wool/acrylic/cashmere

i’m unfamiliar working with some of these blends, and i imagine i never would have bought them otherwise. i’m so excited i could get a bargain. :slight_smile:

I definitely need to check out my local Goodwill! I don’t believe I’ve ever seen yarn, but it’s been so long they’re definitely changes and new donations to see :laughing:

i’ve started my hat/headband! going to see how much i can knit with just one skein and decide what it will be :slight_smile:

this yarn (premier Appalachia, discontinued alpaca/acrylic #5 weight) reminds me very much of Lion brand Scarfie,. which is a wool/acrylic blend and also #5, they are wound very similarly to one another. i love using Scarfie in my Addi machine and so far this yarn works great as well!

Gosh, is that double layer? Also, what size Addi do you have there?

i have a 46 pin Addi Express Kingsize that i use to make my beanies! i also have a 22 pin Addi Express that i use to make smaller things like socks or headbands, but my bigger machine is my baby haha :slight_smile:

it sure is double layer! it is VERY warm! i think it would be perfect for a child sized head :slight_smile: i’m excited i have 5 more skeins of this yarn too, i see some headbands in my future because they take a bit less yarn anyways
