Hi all , I just want to say , that it is never to late to learn new thingsā€¦ there is always something new to learn .. .

At nearly 50 Iā€™ve been crocheting for about 15 years .. and last night I cracked a seamless Ami colour change .. with the help from , @crocheniacs and @TheKnottyBoss . .

How? you might ask ā€¦ now Iā€™ve done needle joins in blankets. So tried it with my current project ( an Eeyore Ami) changing from blue to white ā€¦

The trick is fasten off .. needle join ā€¦ then do a standing sc in the next colour :smiley:.. flawless ā€¦ try it :blush:

Iā€™d also like to say thank you to everyone here , for being so lovely and welcoming since I joined a few weeks ago , and hope Iā€™ve put this in the right place lol

Youā€™re welcome, I just wanted to try it so I could get rid of that ā€œjogā€ you sometimes get . And needed this colour change completely straight ,:smiley:. . Iā€™ve tried other ways but this one is so much neater and easier x

If you search ā€œ crochet needle joinā€ on YouTube it will bring it up for you .

In short , you do your last stitch ..

Cut the yarn and pull through that last stitch

Add a needle .. skipping a stitch you go down the middle of the next stitch .. ( back loop.. then you go down the v on the last stitch worked and the back ā€œbumpā€ to secure and pull the tread .. it makes a stitch ( the one you skipped)

Then you just leave or weave in ..

You then do your standing sc in any stitch of the next round :blush:. Hope all that makes sense..

Or standing any stitch , Iā€™ve used this join in other projects just not tried it in Ami till last night

Itā€™s very clever isnā€™t it .. I just wish Iā€™d tried it years ago lol :laughing:..

And it will help , especially when youā€™ve got every round different colours .. like red white red white etc .

I believe what youā€™re referring to is commonly called an invisible join.

Yes just different names.. Iā€™m UK and itā€™s a needle join here .. as Iā€™ve said above Iā€™ve used it in crochet mandala type blankets.. when joins are sometimes a few inches from the corner join, ..Iā€™ve just not used it for Ami. Or even thought to use it in Ami until last night ,even tho Iā€™ve made 100s

My point is .. there is always something new to learn.. no matter how long you have crafted .. or how old you are ,

My health isnā€™t great so I struggle learning ā€œnewā€ things ,that someone a lot younger might crack first go . I need to read and watch a few times..

Iā€™m just glad my post is helping others , and hope Iā€™ve explained it well enough :face_with_peeking_eye::face_with_peeking_eye:

Your post taught me that an invisible join and a needle join are the same thing. Just different terms based on oneā€™s location.

The old saying ā€˜you canā€™t teach an old dog new tricksā€™ is so completely wrong. We never stop learning.

Itā€™s so rewarding learning new things and being able to pass our new found knowledge on to others.
