hello everyone! I’ve had a skein of red heart flower power sitting in my stash for months now, and i really would like to use it up. I’ve been thinking of getting into color pooling, though im not quite sure how it works. I’ll attach a screenshot of the colorway i have, and if you have any tips or advice, please feel free to let me know. thank you!

What is color pooling?

The magic happens when you use a multiple of 2 and the moss stitch (also called the linen stitch). Here’s where the fun begins! Since each person is unique and crochets with a different tension, you’ll have to play with your hooks and yarn to get a pattern to emerge. Don’t give up! These samples took me four days and many attempts, but you can see there are patterns within the colors. For all the samples I used a size H hook.
i got this from a site online. they also said ur skein should have large sections of approximatley same lengths.

I think its when you change your pattern to work out the stitches so the colour parts look intentional. Rather than what i do its just crochet with it to see what happens

No colour pooling but just using sc around and hoping for the best. Its not the same yarn but fun nonetheless (not the cat cake lol)

I got a bunch of red heart granny square yarn in the same color from Joann’s before they closed. I saw there are YouTube videos for it too, so will have to watch them at some point

You can make these shorts but instead of following the pattern for the granney square you can do the flower one on the label instead, you can also use the red heart yarn for the waistband and you can pick a different color for the shorts and the drawstring!
