this is so frustrating wow ! i’m so sorry this is happening to you.

i dont fully agree with other people saying that they need to remove the feature - but i DO think they need to make it an “invite” basis thing. if you’re going to be adding non-applicants to test a pattern, they should get an “invite” that they can either deny or accept with no consequence. its insane that you can just be added to test patterns out of the blue!

I do agree with that vs the just getting rid of the function all together. The function could be great if it was improved upon.

Thank you for this! As I designer I have done this a few times, confused if I should accept the applicants or not. Most of the time they are beginners with no karma, so sometimes I accept them even if they hadn’t replied saying they want to test to give them a chance and help if they dont know how to test. I have also had someone abort without saying anything too, who also didn’t express interest. I will take your advice and not do that anymore. :+1:
Also can designers add testers who haven’t applied to your pattern through the photo or link? Cuz you said “I’ve noticed that people have been assigning testers to their tester calls who have not applied to test if their patterns” and just wondered if im actually on topic or not:face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth: (i havent been on in a while so i might have missed updates)

Wow, I can’t believe someone would do that! I didn’t know this sort of thing happened! :fearful: @HellloooBlue , one thing I have seen is that people will post tester calls, accept testers, and then publish the pattern immediately, without giving testers the time they were told they would be given  It’s so sad, because testers don’t want to remove themselves (abort) from the test because their percentage will go down. The issue is that the designers don’t know what they are doing since no one told them!

Yes you are able to add people by their @ now even if they have not applied to test.

Exactly, and if they publish the pattern then they have to unpublish any time a change needs to be made. It seems more like they just want people to add a journal than proofread and test to make sure everything okay.

Yes! It would be great if Ribblr could make a little note on how to have your pattern tested for the first time you post a tester call! That way hopefully less people will do it. It’s unfortunate when people do it well informed, though…

Oh okay. yeah i see where youre coming from then! that is very frustrating to be randomly assigned to test.

That’s what I thought too! (I have seen your replies saying how to do it)
I frog think that there should be an invite thing instead of just adding people randomly. I have commented on testers saying that I’d like to test but then forget to actually apply so they reach out to me and ask me to apply which I really appreciate! I’ve also been tagged in random appreciate posts that I didn’t even comment on the tester call LOL it’s okay though, just a mistake! Hopefully Ribblr can sort out this feature and improve it :D

Man Do people really do this?? Why?

Do you need to be a “registered” tester? I’m new here.

i think many people do it by accident if they are new to the testing process like me, but they might do it bcs they want specific people to test it

youd have to be approved once applying to test something, i suppose you could call that a registered tester if you want

makes sense. I feel like if someone doesnt want to test, they don’t wanna test. Forcing seems like a great way to add yourself to a blocked list
