Tips for Pattern Tester Calls

Hello everyone.

This tip is more of a plea for a lot of people to stop doing this.

Recently I’ve noticed that people have been assigning testers to their tester calls who have not applied to test if their patterns. This is not a call out post I will not be saying who these people are because that would be rude and I’m not trying to be malicious with this post, but there have been several people that have been doing this recently. (At least several that I have noticed)

If someone likes/comments encouragement on your post or has tested for you in the past that doesn’t mean that they can or have the time to fit a pattern test into their schedule. They might not have applied for a reason.

Send a private message or reply to them in the post if you’re unsure if they wanted to apply to be a tester.

Once added, we can’t remove ourselves from the test without it negatively reflecting against us and our account even though we didn’t apply to test these patterns.

I swear, it’s never something personal against you or your pattern. People may not have the supplies to test or the time to do it when you surprise them by adding them to the test with no warning or mention.

Thank you.

I have seen that some ppl have been doing this and there is an option to do this if you have a pattern for testing but honestly i just think ribblr should remove it bc its being seriously abused and if you want to abort the test that affects ur karma.

If you want i can also make a post about this in the suggestions space asking ribblr to remove this feature.

It might be a good idea because the amount of patterns I get sent that I haven’t asked to test is taking up nearly all of my time.
I love testing patterns, but I only apply for the amount that I know I can do in the given time period and having people throw patterns at me that I didn’t apply for is honestly a bit intense because now I have to work faster and stay up longer which isn’t healthy.
Again nothing against the patterns or creators, but if I don’t apply it’s just because I don’t have the time. :sob::sob:

Wow, this has never happened to me!! I didn’t know this was a thing

Unfortunately so.
A lot of the times they’ll also never have the pattern finish so you don’t even get credit even though you went through and tested the pattern that was forced on you.

That’s awful

I had an issue similar to this in a way. I wanted to test a pattern, and I started it. The owner made no pm, so I had no clue what I was doing. I sent them DMs about my progress and suggestions for a about a WEEK with no response. Eventually, i sent them a somewhat stern message about how it is a pattern authors job to communicate with testers and that it is a 2 way system. I concluded with asking to be removed and that I didnt want to tsst for them in the future. Then they called me mean and said they were blocking me because they were only 12. I was baffled, AND they still havent removed me from testing.

Man ive had that happen to me too with the person not responding and its rlly annoying when ppl dont send out a gc.

Ribblr has no notification for when you’ve been accepted so unless they reach out there is no way of knowing that you’ve been accepted (other than the testing tab but a lot of people starting out testing don’t even know it exists)

Exactly!

how can you even approve someone from testing if they haven’t applied? I thought the only way to test a pattern was to apply…?
still that’s terrible thou, especially when they won’t answer your dms

It’s good you bring this up

This sounds like an issue the leaders might have or can find a technical solution for. Maybe tag them or contact them about this problem

Nope, when you’re under managing testers you can manually add it people’s @
