It squeaks when I try using plush yarn. My poor ears that hear 4 times what humans can hear (cat’s ears can do that. It’s acc rlly cool. They can also move their ears and hear while they are sleeping. They are fully aware of their surroundings while they are fast asleep!!) anywayyy this isn’t a topic abt cats.
So yeah how do I get my crochet hook to stop squeaking

Ik!:
Try putting your hook near your nose/palm of the head, because it’s usually more oily there. Like that, it should stop. I didn’ try it, but someone on IG/here recommended it

Twirl your hook in your hair. Sometimes that helps.
Make sure it’s CLEAN!
Switch to an aluminum hook or wood hook
Rub candle wax on it
Rub it with a dryer sheet
Switch to aluminum hook that is cold
Loosen your tension
Sit by a fan
Make sure hook is dry
Powder it with baby powder
And finally, use a hook where you have a better grip on the handle, like an ergonomic hook

I don’t get why people don’t like their hooks squeaking. I don’t enjoy it, but it’s really not a problem for me.
ofc everybody has their opinions tho, maybe try looser tension?

Is the hook new? That can have somwrhung to do with it. Also try cleaning the hook, when it gets oily from your hands it gets squeaky and hard to hold.

I actually find that if I dry off my hook it stops squeaking (and dry ur hand) because sometimes my hand get a bit sweaty and it makes it slightly damp and using acrylic that makes it squeak
