Ok, I figured out how to get the stitches looser, I yarn under picking up the loops under one of the legs of the v stitch on the forward pass.
I tend to crochet tight! Any other tips for loosening the stitches. They are still too tight!!
Or perhaps I should just give up!
I’ve been crocheting for about 20 years, it may be too late for me. ![]()
Oh! And going up a hook size doesn’t help.

Have you tried using yarn over to pick up the loops? I’ve heard that yarn under tends to be tighter.

Use a larger hook for the first row then switch back to the desired hook size?

Actually, I tried yarn over initially but for some reason when I use yarn under I can really pull that loop UP!

No, I crochet just as tight regardless of hook size.

Sounds like you should relax your hands and not grip the hooks so tightly
EDITED your wrists/hands will not get hurt as much if you loosen your grip a little
