Untangling Yarn Tips?

Does anyone have any tips for untangling yarn? I have this white yarn that I would use for crochet stuff but it’s tangled and I have no idea how to untangle it. Any tips? Thanks <3

No idea… Sometimes I cut it then untangle it and the do a square knot to the it together.

Start to pull apart the main knot in different directions then find the end of the yarn and start to roll in up into a ball, making sure to pull it through the knots and pulling the knots loose to make it easier. Try that and see if it helps <3

I just usually cut it if the knot is too tight. But I try my hardest

this is basically what I do too! I just find the end and slowly follow it through the knot

i just sorta untangle it by finding knots and undoing them.

Same. It’s so annoying when I get yarn from goodwill and it’s all tangled I just give up and cut it

Yes, I only cut it if I absolutely need to. It is a great way to do it too

yuppp I don’t like cutting bc then I have no idea how long the pieces will be. Plus for certain projects having to knot together pieces is a hassle

i cut and use a magic not for worsted, and then the method for chenille yarn is different

It depends on what kind of fiber the yarn is. I had some Fiesta La Boheme (which is one strand of nylon or rayon, with another strand of mohair). It is unfroggable, it sticks to itself so bad. It took literally weeks to get one “ball” of rayon, the mohair couldn’t really be saved.

I usually find long bits that I can easily untangle, then find other parts until I can just pull apart until I get it all sorted out. otherwise I don’t really have a strategy

Get in the middle of the knot and try to loosen it, then slowly unweave the threads. DO NOT tighten the knot.
