Various Karma? And possibly a how many tests completed feature...

So, I’ve been thinking: what if people could give out more karma for bigger projects that take more time? Like, there could be brackets to pick from:
Small
Medium
Large
and Extra large, each with varying levels of karma. (To prevent abuse of the system.)
For example, @Bobacat123’s cherry bears and @crochetbydania’s strawberry axolotl would probably be in the first bracket, while @fatesbymoira’s huge Milotic would be in the last bracket! I also feel like it would encourage people to test bigger patterns. (Not that there’s anything wrong with the milotic, it is literally one of the best patterns I’ve ever seen. Not even CLOSE to an exaggeration.)
Karma used to show how many tests people had, but since we have the percentage now, maybe that would help? It could also be beneficial to have just a count of the tests people have done.

I like that idea Axo!!

i think it’s a cool idea in theory, but i feel like it’s highly likely to be abused. im wondering what’s stopping someone from selecting the highest karma tier (extra large) for their friend who only tested a small version. i think it would be a lot of work to try to implement that system, because i think moderators would have to individually assess each journal to make sure the product is the proper size. i don’t think using AI to assess that would be a good idea either.

i do think it’s a really great idea and would love to see something like that!! but i feel like there are some people who would abuse it. :sob:

Well, I feel like people would flag if they put it into the wrong category. People here are little crusaders of justice, lol.

I second this!!

Ribblr places a lot of trust in the community- just take the quoting feature for example:
DO NOT FLAG ME FOR THIS IT IS AN EXAMPLE

What is Karma here? I’m newer here.

i think that’s a potential solution, but i also think about groups of friends who might not flag an incorrect size category for fellow friends, but would flag people they don’t know/interact with. i would hope people wouldn’t do that, but with how people really value the karma system, i could see it happening.

i’m not trying to tear down your idea because i do think it’s a really good one!! but i just feel like it’s so likely to be abused :sob:

(Please don’t take this as arguing with you, I would consider it as a discussion)
There are a lot of people here on Ribblr, so if a friend doesn’t flag it, someone definitely will. Not only that, I doubt people would apply to someone being deceitful- who’s to say they won’t hurt their testers as well?

You get karma when a tester gifts you their pattern after you finish testing it! One karma for each pattern.

i don’t think it’s arguing at all! we’re having a friendly discussion

i totally see what you mean! i think you’re right in that most people would probably flag the incorrect ones and be able to report the abuse. i think that would mean that journal entries would have to be more public and have a certain amount of approval or something?

or, maybe it could be something that members/regulars can opt into, kind of like the ribblr testing features! so a group of approved individuals will have access to the karma system and be able to manually check and approve based on what size category was tested. but that’s just an idea to try and limit potential abuse! i do think it’s a really cool idea and would be a lot more helpful for pattern creators to determine the best testers for certain patterns. :sparkling_heart:

Yeah! I’m glad you see where I’m going with this! And perhaps instead of regular, it could be, like, member or something, because there are some GREAT pattern designers who don’t really use the community.

What if it was different for like beginner, intermediate and advanced patterns? Like bc you set the difficulty level when making the pattern.. idk

IIIIIII’m not quite sure what you mean

I have 500 Karma and only 44 Followers.
I know I have followed over 500 but I guess I don’t get the same in return. I think the numbers of followers and following should be a lot closer than that!!

Oooo, that’s a really great idea!!!

Not QUITE sure what you mean by that since karma is for testing, but I’m pretty sure you were, like, the first person I followed here on Ribblr!

That’s so cool that you have 500 karma
I think the problem with following makes is that few people know about that you can follow the makes

YOU CAN FOLLOW MAKES?! Chokes
