I have cut out all the pieces and pinned them onto my mannequin. I have designed a skirt for it too, so it looks like a dress but if I just want one part of it, I can just have the top or the skirt.

I always end up buying premade. It is only recently have I even dabbled into alterations and embellishments (like making the Victorian into steampunk).
