I shall be chained to my laptop getting my tester group started and (hopefully) publishing the last two or three batches of patterns being tested

I will be working on my very first pattern. I’m super excited!!! Also I will be doing some pattern grading and pattern testing for other people.

Oh wow congratulations! What kind of pattern is it or are you keeping it a secret? (What exactly is pattern grading?)

grading is taking a pattern and making all of the different sizes

It is not something wearable, although it is something that will hopefully be used by crafters often.

it’s an art, really, because If you ever bought a shirt where the buttons were too far apart in a large size or the pockets too big in a small size… or my favorite, they just added the same percentage to every seam so that the armholes are way too large …some thing get changed and some don’t and some have to change angle or shape, It’s a lot harder than just adding or subtracting stitches

Ohhhh that’s not what I thought it was at all! Thanks!

once you learn pattern grading in dressmaking skills, it’s easier to apply it in knit and crochet, but it does require you to understand both crafts in order to do it well. There are courses you can take to get certified in it then you can join a guild or service as a professional pattern grader. I just grade my own… which is why it takes so long. My patterns are not just squares or flat panels. It doesn’t always work out, I have a set of toddler sized slippers that I will need to circle back to at some point so I can publish them

I’m starting to feel like Brain (please tell me someone remembers this cartoon)
“Same thing I [try to] do every day”: Work on my Easter top… Since I only get a few minutes to myself every day, it is slow going

Google does not want to help me on that. What year is it from?

I understand that! Hope you have success on your next try!
