What am i doing wrong?

How do I avoid the holes? I have no clue if my tension is good or not & I always wonder why mine doesn’t come out like everybody else’s (if that makes sense). How do I stop it from curving into a circle when I don’t want it to be? Any adivce helps.

Those holes are normal when using dc, unless you use a really small hook.

You could do one of two things.
1-Use a smaller hook
2-Use a thicker yarn
Your tension is great!:+1:

Your tension is fine. With that stitch (DC) there will be holes. If you don’t want big holes then you can use single crochet (sc). Also I think it is curving because there aren’t enough stitches. You need more inc’s.

i had that problem too! i just started using smaller hooks and that fixed it :))

That’s exactly what I was thinking using a smaller hook & I’m using 4 medium yarn (idk if that’s the weight of the yarn) with 5mm hook so idk if that says anything lol.

I’ve watched youtube video on how to make this & it doesn’t look like that :weary:

okay I was following what the video said

that’s what i figured & I heard to go smaller with what the yarn says so yea I’m def going to do that.

well about the curving, it might be the right number of stitches, it might js be… i’ve heard that you’re supposed to pull the loop (before you start each stitch) so that your hook is tangent to the circle… if you don’t know what tangent means i can explain lol.

Drop down to a 4.5 or a 4

Could you attach the video so we can see what the original looks like?

For typical worsted weight warn i always use 4.00mm its my go to hook and works well for most yarns

Hi!
I would say a smaller hook with that yarn, but the holes (as everyone else said) are normal with this type of stitch. And your project looks very cute and well done (in my opinion at least!)
If it curves, you could try blocking it (wet the project a bit, then pin it down and let it dry)
Hope this helps!

I have made many coozies and little trays like that and in some patterns you slip stitch and chain 1 at the end of the row to keep it flat, but that is with sc so idk if it will work.

Then i’m not sure. Try blocking it maybe?

I have no clue what a tangent is :joy: & the video that i watched does say to tighten the slip stitch (i think thats what its called) before beginning a new round
