I started on ribblr in June. I made two sales in one week. I haven’t made one since. I just really want to know how I can make my store better for you guys. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated x
You are not doing anything wrong, pattern sales can just be very hit or miss, because people tend to prefer free patterns, especially on here, as the users are mostly minors who cannot buy patterns themselves. If it makes you feel any better, I have had my shop up and running for like a year and half now, and have only made 7 sales.
Keep making patterns that are not similar to free ones on this site and not ones that would be easy to free hand. You are still “new” to the site and may take a while for people to acknowledge your shop. Be active in the community and that will draw attention to you and your shop! Good luck!
you’re not doing anything wrong!
maybe some tips are to:
make a LOT of patterns! market makes, dragons, free patterns, whatever you like to make!
post the testers call and in the testers call ask people to tag others! that will get more people to see your pattern! also make a poll where people can hit it to be tagged in the release!
then in the release, make a release post announcing and linking your pattern, and tag the testers w/ pics and then in replies tag the people who wanted to be tagged!
this really makes a way for a lot of people to see your pattern!
you aren’t doing anything wrong! I think maybe just interacting around more in general and making release posts, so more people see your patterns!
This is an issue many beginners experience so you’re definitely not alone.
Your patterns look great for beginners and are very reasonably priced, if not free.
They show you’ve mastered the basics and have great tension.
To answer your question consider the following:
- Who is your target audience? Adults, children…
- Children are generally interested in free patterns as they don’t have access to money unless they have a part time job, pocket money etc. They tend to gravitate towards amigurumi patterns (from my experience). However, the amigurumi patterns you have in your shop are not unique or original.
(no offense intended) There are 100’s of chicken, duck and chill pill patterns just like yours here on Ribblr alone. Unless your pattern is considerably different from the rest, it simply doesn’t stand out. - Adults are generally the ones who have the financial ability to purchase patterns. In my experience, adults are generally looking for patterns that are more unique, contain more advanced stitches and/or techniques.
- Many crocheters won’t pay for patterns if they are simple and can easily be made without the need for a pattern.
I hope this provides you with some helpful information.
I wish you luck on your crochet journey. ![]()

It’s probably because your shop here is new. Give it some time!![]()
Many people look at the patterns they see in the community and then choose whether to buy or not. So you could post most about your shop and patterns here! Good luck!![]()
I would recommend that you have people test your patterns here on Ribblr. If a paid pattern doesn’t have any reviews/makes/journals I rarely even consider getting it (I feel the same way about it even if it’s free.)
I‘m also here for like a year. My experience was that patterns with clear and uncluttered pictures usually sell a bit better. They look more professional and people tend to think that you put more effort in the pattern. But that’s only what I think when getting a pattern on here (and also selling patterns). The rest like making unique stuff or letting the pattern get tested has already been mentioned. Hope this helps! ![]()
