A conversation was had earlier today that made me think. We all have some sort of super powers that are not completely helpful, but everyone is impressed when they discover it.
So I thought it would be fun if we could list some of the party tricks, super powers, or unusual talents that are unique from everyone else you know.
I’ll go first:
I always know where my car is in the parking lot. Always.
I can taste a dish/drink once and usually be able to tell you everything in it.
If I hear a song more than 10 times, I will never forget the lyrics.
I can move my second toe independently of the rest of my toes.
Your turn!
I always know when a dog is around, even if it’s not my own!
I can pack for a weekend trip in less than 30 minutes.
I can remember the plot of a book I read 10 years ago.
if i hear the a song on the radio like 1 time ik the lyrics like i have 50 boring jumpy jumpy kill your brain cells pop songs in my head even tho I HATE THEM SMMMMM, but anyway lol
I can relate with the song lyrics I think my main superpower is my memory. I seem to remember things like dates, events, lyrics all sorts very well. Even from 10 years ago etc. And I constantly have my family and friends pointing out how good my memory is. It is certainly very helpful when it comes to remembering birthdays and important dates haha
I know how to play a number of musical instruments from the violin, to the piano, the flute, the ukulele, some knowledge of the guitar, and some of the drums
In regards to party tricks, I have accumulated a lot of magic tricks over the years, some of which I have become very good at
I think it is amazing that you can tell what is in a dish just from tasting it! When did you realise you could do that?
I don’t know when it started, but when I first started cooking, I would smell the spices and and decide if it smelled like the dish I was making, because most spices taste like they smell.
It isn’t always a blessing, there are a lot of bad cooks and bad food out there. I can tell if the oil isn’t fresh or if they don’t clean the fridge/freezer well enough. I can usually taste soap on people’s dishes that didn’t get rinsed well enough. It ruins a lot.
Ah I see, there’s certainly pros and cons, but it is still rather cool that you are able to do that
I think my post might have been misunderstood…
I want to know that useless power that isn’t really helpful or makes a cool party trick
Can you wiggle your ears, or recite the alphabet backwards? Incredible sense of balance, always manage to get a good parking spot? Connect any two actors to each other, or remember the winner of every super bowl in order? Go ahead, tell us about that weird thing you can do!
I can bend my thumbs “down” to touch the wrist of the same arm
I can do praying hands behind my back, between my shoulder blades (used to be able to have hands to elbow touching in this pose, can’t quite anymore)
(I should add I have hEDS so these party tricks are common for us)
I can hold my breath for 3 and a half mins, or 3:24 to be exact. And I can bend my finger backwards completely. Just saw your comment @OBabyNMore ! That’s so cool. A random other thing that just came to mind, is my mum is able to flip her eyelids inside out!
That’s that jelly tendon /elastic skin thing, right? Seems like loose joints would be an annoyance after a while… Says the old lady that can’t hold her needles some days
Yes, in a sense… It is a connective tissue disorder… And yes, it becomes painful having your joints constantly getting out of place and loose… It really did me in with my second pregnancy, my pelvic floor was SHOT! I was in constant pain and couldn’t move from my waist down without crying… pair it with RA, and Istruggle to knit some days and keep dreading the day that I can’t
My pinky and ring fingers individually go past perpendicular to my hands while keeping hands flat on a surface, first and middle go almost perpendicular… not sure what you mean by backwards completely, but curious
My pinky finger on my right hand can bend back and almost touch my forearm/wrist, I hope that makes sense
My elbows are slightly double jointed so they bend the wrong way just a bit.
At parties I used to put a toothpick in my tongue piercing instead of the bar, get a little bit of ketchup on my tongue, then get another toothpick and tell someone to blow it at me and I’d catch it, then I’d open my mouth with a scared look on my face and kind of yelling just to see the look on peoples faces. I wear glasses and most of the time the toothpick wouldn’t even get to me, but people were so gullible. It was awesome. Lol
That’s effing hilarious!
That’s such a fun post
I’m trying to think and the two things that come to mind are knowing all the flags of all countries with is pretty useless but fun (for me) and navigation. If I go to a city I’ve never been to before for example it’ll take me a couple of hours and then I’ll pretty much understand how to navigate around it (the directions, paths I’ve taken etc).
I think I have some really odd super powers
I’m a very perspective person even though I’m short sighted
I have an incredible sense of direction but only in video games
I can do silks and some gymnastics
being Abel to sew key ends in with out crying
I’m pretty good at navigating and can learn a long route fast but I don’t really go anywhere. I also have quite a high pain threshold and tend to internalise my pain reactions which is helpful when I get tattooed for hours but do not have money for tattoos.
I can’t think of anything other than I’m good at painting faces and I’m good with using a Rand McNally to navigate if I ever have to
