What should I be scared of?

Hello everyone! Currently, I posted a tester call for my first ever pattern and I’m just wondering “what should I be scared of?”

I’m asking you guys if you have any fears that you could share when you post a tester call and what are some of the risks involved (if there are any).

Make sure to specify what yarn/general requirements you have!

I’d really recommend adding some! What colors you want people to use, what yarn weight, what hook…

Huge no, tiny… maybe… Look, ribblr would probably take out the option of testing patterns if the steal rates were high… Also greater karma usually results in more reliable testers, but also look at people’s makes (some may just be new to the platform but we have previous experience…)

How I usually go about posting tester calls is, to check out a few other’s and write down things I would also like to ask for in my own. It is quite repetitive; no ghosting, post these emojis:___, post your yarn and hook size… these standard questions, plus if it involves any odd/special techniques (my lily involves working with wire so I wrote that down), any other tools one may need…

Hope this helps!
Sincerely

Also the gc doesn’t work until the tester call is closed (At least for me… Anyone knows for sure???)

eh? really?

i think i didn’t add you in the gc, sorry. I made the gc when you haven’t applied yet. I thought it would automatically include you :face_holding_back_tears:

The gc is not connected to the tester call. If you keep your call open after making the chat, you will have to manually add the new testers to the chat. I suggest waiting to create the chat until you have all testers but sometimes you just don’t get the number of testers you need/want.

There isn’t anything to be scared of. The biggest issue on Ribblr is people ghosting. Some designers will give testers 48hrs to respond to the initial message and remove all who do not respond. Both testers and designers are expected to be responsive in messages but also give a grace period of 24hrs. If the test period ends and they do not finish and are not responding, simply remove them from testing and block them depending on the situation.

The only other issue I’ve had is rude testers. There aren’t a lot but you sometimes get people who try to change your pattern or give you attitude when you tell them the answer to their question and show them said answer in your pattern. I deal with them by being as nice as I can be and block them after testing. If they do finish all requirements of the test I will gift them the pattern before blocking them.

omg this is great information.

also those rude testers are really something else haha…

id just say to block anyone who ghosts you (its happened a few times for my tester calls and I just block them! don’t feel bad or mean because they have other tester calls to ghost and you’re probably not the only one blocking them lollll some deserve it ngl! like I was kind and accepted you and now you’re just ignoring my questions asking if you’re done!?)

and I’m pretty sure blocking ppl makes it so they cant test for you anymore so you wont have any issues in the future.
