What size yarn do you like the best for amigurumi?

If I manage to get this right there should be a poll:

  • Sewing thread
  • 2ply/lace
  • 4ply/Fingering
  • Dk/light weight
  • Aran/Worsted
  • Chunky/bulky
  • Super Chunky
  • Big/jumbo

I’m so curious what other people are using on here

Wow jumbo got a vote already, I thought for sure no one would use that for amigurumi! Feel free to post a pic of something you made using your favourite.

I just use whatever I have on hand. Which is either worsted or chunky.

Definitely chunky/bulky but the soft fluffy stuff like Parfait Chunky. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I like worsted because I feel like it’s more sturdy and the details show better.

Love DK cotton, it’s cleaner and fresher. If I want something fast then do go for chenille chunky.

Surprised chunky is in the lead, websites always say that worsted is the most popular.

Apparently I’m the only one here who likes 2ply :joy: I mean these are cute right?

I just can’t get on the chunky/blanket yarn bandwagon. Lol. I’ve always been a worsted/aran fan but am starting to appreciate cotton dk a lot more these days.

Ah just wait, the cotton dk is a gateway to cotton 2ply :joy: you’ll get smaller and smaller and smaller! I’m going the other way at the moment, I need to use all the yarn taking space in my cupboard and it’s most dk and above :-/ seems huge. And far to big to crochet on a packed train with. The velvet looking chunky has me interested but I can’t really get anymore until I clear some space. Also it seems awfully expensive!

You are probably right. Lol. And i agree about the velvet. I’ve used velvet before and found it hard to secure the ends. I’m sure there are some tricks out there though.

I am working on my stash too! I have an awful lot of cheap worsted acrylic to get through. Lol.
