SAME!!! I can just use that skein for crocheting AND EMBROIDERING!!
REALLY? Ok we’re trying that
hmmm… i’ve never only used safety eyes once or twice, and i STRUGGLED to get them to lock in place. for me, embroidering is a lot easier because i always have an abundance of black yarn to use
i had no safety eyes for a long time bc i… don’t like to go out. not in an unhealthy way i just prefer to stay home and read/crochet loll but that’s why i’ve been procrastinating buying fluffy yarn :3 and then my mom bought safety eyes for me (but only tiny ones since my stuff is tiny).
anyway my opinion: for context i mainly make really small amigurumi, like 20 rounds ish with like size 4 yarn or under… so they come out more like keychain size. so i use safety eyes almost always now, just because it’s easier. but for “bigger” projects, i tend to crochet/embroider my eyes… idk what i’m yapping about anymore. oops!
the only problem is… i feel like pattern designers should be ore inclusive yk? the ones that use safety eyes often only say “b/w Rx&x” which isn’t helpful when you want to embroider vertical eyes… and the ones who embroider eyes often don’t include instructions for safety eyes, so safety eye people (lol) have to guesstimate where they put their eyes. i have to like psychoanalyze the cover photo sometimes okay this is getting too yappy… (one random minor note is that @shrimpybrimpy only embroiders her eyes - at least as far as i’ve seen, yet her patterns are wonderfully specific about where to put safety eyes!! so kudos to her :D)
I like safety eyes or buttons for eyes, though I’ve been using safety eyes more lately because I’m lazy.
Depends on who the Amigurumi is for.
If it’s for an older person then I’d say safety eyes. (However there’s always a risk of them falling out) safety eyes aren’t good for younger children because of chocking risk. Embroidery is way better for those. I’ll attach a photo of an elephant I made for a custom as a Christmas gift. I loved the final look.
For safety I’d say embroidery is better and it does take practice to get that skill to take shape.
ong, that elephant is adorable!! i love it <3
Those eyes are amazingggg
