School season is coming up and it got me thinking about education 
So I was wondering, who taught you your craft? maybe it was a teacher, family member, friend, content creator, or someone else who deserves their flowers 
I was lucky enough to know the basics of all crafts when I was born 
so tell me who helped you become the maker you are today, i want to hear the kind stories!!

I learned from the wobbles kits. They were very helpful for starting out.
I learned how to crochet by watching A LOT of Youtube videos! 
I do not remember.
I learnt from Youtube tutorials!
My mum taught me how to knit as a kid and I taught myself how to crochet by watching you tube videos.
One of my school’s staff taught me because I couldn’t go to PE
For crochet, I’m self taught starting from a teenager.
However, when I was only about 9 years old, I was visiting my grandpa in the hospital, shortly before he passed away from cancer. While my family and I were in the waiting area before we saw him, an older woman was there as well, knitting away. I suppose she saw me watching her and knew that if we were in that part of the hospital, whoever we were there to see didn’t have a good prognosis. So, she asked me if I wanted to learn. She taught me the basic knit stitch and ended up giving me a small skein of yarn and a pair of needles.
I didn’t know it at the time, but having something to do with my hands during that very difficult time for myself and my family helped me cope so much. I will always be grateful to that woman and what she did, because I know now that she was there likely visiting a dying family member as well. That small act of kindness helped me far more than she could ever know.
I picked up knitting again as a teenager, but grew frustrated when I was attempting to knit Amigurumi. That’s when I decided to learn to crochet!
I’ve stuck mainly with crochet over the years, but have picked myself up a set of circular needles and I’m trying to get back into knitting again as well.
I started from a woobles kit (but didnt finish) and then went to youtube for tutorials!
I’m a self-taught crocheter! eventually I looked at a few simple tutorials to make sure I was doing the stitches right
pro tip: do NOT learn to crochet with embroidery thread like I did 
I saw my friend crocheting and I thought I want to do that to, so I bought one of the Woobles kits and made it
I was inspired to learn from my Great-aunt, and she gave me all the tools and yarn I needed to get started. I ended up teaching myself from Youtube videos and recently have gained the skills to start teaching myself to design amigurumi plushies from scratch!
My cousin taught me how to crochet. She was in the country for university and she taught me the basics, like chaining, single crochet etc. After she helped me start I went on youtube to get better!!
I got a wobbles kit, but couldn’t figure it out, so @Makkofang taught me how to crochet simple stitches and the wobbles kits did the rest!

My mom taught me how to knit, her mom taught her, and her friend taught her
As a toddler (2-3 yo) I used to watch my grandmother crochet every night. (I lived with her.) Whenever family visited us or we them, all my aunts and girl cousins would crochet. When I was a bit older (maybe 4, not yet in school), I kept bugging her to teach me. She showed me how to use my fingers to create a chain. I did that for ages with the same ball of yarn. Chaining and ripping them out, over and over again. By first grade she had taught me how to SC. I made many, many wobbly pot holders! I kept at it and progressed to halfway decent scarves. My circumstances changed and I moved away from her during the middle of elementary school. My crocheting fell away for years. I picked it back up after college and used books (thank you public library) to educate myself. I’m now in my 60s and crochet nearly every day.

But eventually my teacher taught me about how to make squares/coasters, then I finally got a crochet kit to test my knowledge from a woobles kit
And that is how I started my crocheting journey :D
I taught myself how to crochet with lots of books and later with lots of YouTube videos. Same for tunisian crochet.
