I’m crocheting a rectangle and originally it was 30 stitches across but as I continued to crochet I lost stitches and now it’s only 26 stitches across. Any ideas on where I messed up? ( the photo isn’t the best quality but it’s all I have)
Hi!! Do you have a picture of what youve made so far?
It’s possible you skipped a few stitches
Usually, you miss one at the ends. My suggestion is to put a stitch marker of some kind in the first and last stitch. Then, when you get to the end, you know where to put the last stitch.
Are you chaining at the end of each row? I used to forget the chains, and it made my work look more like a trapezoid or triangle, than a square or rectangle.
Count as you go across the row, usually 1-2 are lost per row on the ends of it’s happening.
Unless it’s a hard to see color like black you may just need more light.
from the picture, I can see that the problem is indeed on the beginnings and endings of your rows.
Here is an article on the most common mistakes made in those areas and how to avoid them. I think you will recognize your issue in it. There are actually quite a few other articles in there that are quite helpful for beginners.
