Im not sure if selling on here is worth it but i mean its worth a try if thats what you want to do!
Ive made a little bit on here not much to say its worth it yet BUT i do like to buy patterns on here!
Here and etsy and the only places i buy from
I dont have any patterns to sell yet, but i do buy on here! Usually when theres something on sale that i like. Occasionally full priced if i just really like the design or need it for a gift.
I get free and paid patterns from here. In fact, I haven’t gotten patterns from anywhere else. As far as selling patterns on here, it Matt not be much per pattern, but it’s passive income that you put work into at first, but it’s hands off after that so any sales would be a plus.
I have been making patterns for years now. Mostly something I want myself. I never sold any on other platforms. I have been here almost from the beginning and I have watched the growth consistently. I believe if we continue growing then the chances of selling more patterns also grows. I may not sell a lot yet, but that “ka ching” in my email is the greatest ever. As for buying patterns, this is the only place I will work a pattern. So, it seems to me, the only place to buy also. I like Ribblr. I plan on supporting it, and us, here for many years to come.
i’ve bought a couple patterns here on ribble, and lots on etsy (before i discovered this amazing app) and now i wish i could have all my etsy patterns here instead XD
I personally haven’t sold any patterns yet, i only have 2, and people got it while it was free, after that not a single sale XD
I think people isn’t used to buy patterns here yet. Maybe in a couple months/years this will be the default plattform to buy, but not just yet.
I still buy patterns on etsy cuz a lot of them are not here yet.
Also, if you’re planning on selling your patterns, the app to edit them here is really easy to use and pretty helpful so you wont have to create the whole pdf file for people to get your pattern.
Hope this is helpful!
i’ll try to answer the questions sequentially based on my own experience!
so far, i have not sold any patterns on ribblr, but i only recently made my patterns paid after having them free, so i haven’t really had time to sell any.
i think if you’ve gotten a lot of the $elfee points (i think that’s how it’s spelled??) then it might be more worth it to sell patterns and products, but i think the fee might be comparable to other sites?
i have bought a few patterns on ribblr, but mostly use etsy to purchase. a lot of the patterns i work on from ribblr are the free ones, since i have unlimited claims due to membership, but i feel like people are less inclined to buy patterns on ribblr. etsy fees are high, but there is the added benefit of having the advertising done for you, compared to having your own website.
I am selling on Etsy and on Ribblr. Honestly, so far I have sold about thrice as much patterns on Etsy compared to Ribblr (although they are cheaper on Ribblr). But it is easier and faster to make a Ribblr pattern than a cute pdf for Etsy. So I’ll keep continuing to sell my patterns on both platforms.
I personally like the interactive patterns more than a simple pdf. So I am buying more Ribblr patterns than Etsy patterns myself.
I have brought patterns on ribblr and on etsy, I prefer to bye patterns on etsy as I find there normally better quality. Eg no spelling mistakes, complicated steps are worded easily and thereare good quality photos. These problems are ok to have in a pattern but if I’m spending money on it it needs to a bit better quality. Also think about what your selling and the price, i just brought a really complicated dragon pattern on etsy for £4 but its normally £7 i consider that a good price, but I have seen people selling patterns for things like those bees and turtles for £2. There are a ton of free patterns for them so why would people spend money on yours.
i personally have never bought and i know many of us cannot buy patterns, but i can buy off of etsy now and i think several other people can so it might be worth thinking about an etsy shop if you don’t already have one
I feel like there’s a lot of teens and young adults on here, who don’t have their own money… So the majority of the people prolly CAN’T even buy if they wanted to.
