Would anyone be interested in testing/making a pattern with a zipper?

I am designing a crochet pattern for a pouch like this:Pink Floral Makeup Bag, Cute Makeup Bag, Travel Bag, Quilted Cotton Cosmetic Bag | eBay (Not real pouch, reference photo)

and it requires a zipper as one of the main things. I want to know if I should make a pattern for it because I am not sure if anyone would be interested in testing/making something with a zipper, which not everyone has.

  • Yes, I would be interested in testing/making something with a zipper!
  • No, I would not be interested in testing/making something with a zipper

That pouch shape is really appealing, and a zipper makes it so much more useful than an open pouch. A few things that help a lot when a zipper is part of the design:

  • Work a firm top edge first, such as a row of single crochet or slip stitches along the opening, so the zipper has a stable edge to sew onto and does not make the crochet wavy.
  • Choose a zipper a little shorter than the opening and pin or baste it in place before sewing, checking that it opens and closes smoothly before you finish the ends.
  • Sew with small, even stitches through the zipper tape and the crochet, using a matching thread, and test the zipper again after a few inches so any bunching can be fixed early.
  • It also helps to state the exact zipper length in the pattern, since that is the one supply makers cannot easily substitute by eye.

I think a pattern like this would be a great next step for anyone who has made pouches before but has not tried a zipper yet.
