yarn from fabric bags

I have acquired an abundance of cheaply made fabric reusable bags from friends & family and I already had an abundance of good reusable bags. I want to make yarn out of these extra bags.

I’m wondering if its a good idea to wash / soak in laundry tub incase of running dyes??

They are all sorts of colours, red, blue, black, yellow, green. I dont care if the dye runs together on the bags themselves but I wouldn’t want it to run onto anything if it gets wet after being crocheted together. I plan to crochet it into big laundry bags or doorway rugs.

I doubt they use extremely cheap dyes but it would definitely be a good idea to test it and be sure.

you’re probably right! I’m going to send all the bags before cutting thru the delicate cycle on my washer to see how it goes!
