I like Bernat velvet and have recently come to love Mainstays velvet. I have a variety of yarns that I like because I get them from yard sales and thrift stores. I put them in the freezer (in a bag of some sort) then out in the sun to kill germs.

I get mine from Joanns! Usually Big Twist since that’s cheapest

I would love to find a specialty yarn store. Most specialty yarn can only be found online and then it’s kind of a game on what the color will look like in person.

I go to Joann’s usually. But recently, I looked up where my local yarn stores (LYS’s) were, and I took a trip to one. Oh my lord, do I recommend. It’s so nice to talk to someone who knows the ins and oits of every fiber and yarn available in store. The owner helped me pick a perfect dupe for a pattern that was in my price range. There’s so much community built there, and there are opportunities to take classes or attend social gatherings where people just make together. It’s wonderful. Definitely check out a local store. Joann’s is affordable and convenient, but it lacks many of the aforementioned perks of a local store.

i-i actually order yarn online… and all my acrylic yarns are from these brands: Milky Cotton (yes its actually called that :sob:) and Cotton Doll. my plush yarn is from Honey Soft, or an unknown brand that daiso sells-

i also get velvet yarn a lot (not the best, honestly. it’s basically 2 thinner strands of yarn that are wound together to make one strand, and it frays into the two strands after like a few seconds of touching it- i get it because it’s REALLY smooth to crochet with), the brand’s a japanese brand so im not sure what the name is

at a yarn store where I used to live they said the milk cotton is also made of milk protein (somehow?) and that it’s like this for the knitted fake boobs they make for people who’ve had breast cancer since it causes the fewest allergies. Idk if the milky cotton one you get is the same, but the name might at least come from this?
