I’m a big fan of Big Twist Posh. And I know I’m not the only one since they always seems to sell out really quickly of the better colors. Obviously I’m going to need to make some adjustments with JoAnns going away and them already being completely sold out at my local stores. I’ve been looking at recommendations and Premier Parfait Chunky seems to be the most common recommendation, but it seems much larger (more in line with Bernat Blanket) in the review videos I’ve seen. I don’t have the option of seeing it in person before buying and shipping for a single skein in more than the cost of the yarn. But I don’t want to commit to a large enough order to make shipping worth it without a lot more information and input.
What I like about Posh
- Size- it’s a Bulky chenille (5) not a Super Bulky or bigger (6+) , not a slim (4) and there’s a huge difference between them. The size of it is wonderful. I’ve used Premier Just Chenille and it’s labeled a Super bulky but actually feels the same or even smaller than my Posh
- Sheen - like Bernat Blanket, Posh is matte. It doesn’t have the satiny sheen of a velvet or Premiers Just Chenille. I can’t get a read on the sheen of Parfait at all through the screen.
- shedding - I have very little fluff shedding from my Posh, and I’ve heard Parfait Chunky can be bad about this.
Anyone who’s worked with both? Please let me know your thoughts on these areas.
Anyone have a different recommendation? Please let me know how it compares to Posh in these specific categories!
And if there’s already a big thread about this, point me to it! I did look and was kind of surprised no one had put this out here yet. My purchase of Posh is how I discovered Ribblr! (Thanks for the free patterns JoAnns, but I would have preferred you stay in business!)
