Hey y’all. I’m thinking about making a giant mushroom plush using chunky plush yarn, but I don’t know what to get. I recently got a gift card to Walmart so would prefer it to be from there if possible. Amazon would be ok too, though. Problem is that I’m ordering online and can’t tell what size crochet hook to use. If you know the size for your recommendation please list it down below! Thanks

I would suggest Brenat Blanket. It suggests to use a 8mm hook but I used a 6.5mm on a large Mimikyu. It’s coming out great. Usually I’ll size down 1 to 2 of the recommended hook size for amigurumi. Hope that helps and hope to see it in the future.

My Walmart has very little yarn, but they do have bernat blanket. So maybe yours does too? I recommend it! For hook sizes, 6-8mm hooks work pretty well for bernat plushies

Mainstays Chenille Chunky Yarn, I want to say it’s a Walmart brand yarn (?) I always see it at my local Walmarts so hopefully it’s there for you to (also online) for the price I’m not sure as its probably going to be different in every area, the crochet hook size recommended is Hook Size: 25 mm (Size U) I love it 
(I used a S/19-19 mm hook for it)

Honesty i really love the walmart brand yarns “mainstay”. They have a great selection & pretty decent for the price!

Bernat blanket for chunky yarn recommendation
Hook sizes I’ve used from a 4mm hook to a 6mm. Ya my tension is a wee loose and tight depending on what size hook I use hence why I go down to a 4 mm lol.
Not a huge fan of the mainstays blanket yarn.

Thank you all for your recommendations! I looked into mainstays but they didn’t have the kind I needed, so I ended up getting Bernât blanket super chunky yarn in white and red.
