Yarn sorting help!

I have all of mine organized by weight and color and that has been super helpful. I also try to keep like yarns together, like all of my cotton yarn is together, and then I have a section for acrylic, just that sort of stuff

I sort all my yarn like this:

1 sort out all the types
2 sort those types into rainbow order
3 prepare the shelving or storage thingos
4 start with the lightest on the top and go along in rainbow order
5 do the same for all the weights in rainbow order left to right

Good luck!

I kinda abandoned doing by color lol
It’s hard to actually see it all cause it’s layered but…

Yes there’s one on my bedroom door AND my closet

Do weight, then color. Color seems a little unpractical because then you have to look in different groups for different colors and weight. Then, all of the weight you’ll be using for one thing is in one spot! Because people barley use a mix of yarn weights

I have a bookshelf that I use and I have my acrylic yarn on one shelf by color and then my plush/misc on another shelf, also organized by color. So I would say type, and within that, color

I would sort by Fibre, then by weight, then colour.

Handy to have all the like balls of yarn together.

I dont have a ton of yarn so i sort it in 3 bins. Warm colors, cool colors, and mixed. It makes it much easier for me to find colors i want even compared to weight or type
