Okay so I have seen many videos of people saying to yarn under and not over for amigurumi, but I’ve always used yarn over, but I have noticed that with some yarn I can’t get a tight enough tension. What would you recommend doing?

If you’re testing a pattern I recommend asking the pattern designer. From what I’ve noticed the line, when you mark the last stitch, spirals differently depending on how you do that. So it could change the placement of the arms or anything else you’re adding.

I y/u y/o for anything that’s not chenille or plush yarn, and y/o for the fluffier fibers. That being said, y/u can slightly change the shaping of a piece. But I do prefer it since it doesn’t give me visible gaps! I think tension also has a part to play, and it may help to eliminate gaps by sizing your hook down.
