Agree 100%! I hate that AI is taking over our creative spaces and forcing REAL artists out. One thing I always tell my art students is that there is “power in the imperfections”, and it is so true!

Excellent move! Thank you. You should also be getting rid of trademark/copyright infringing patterns. The current “cloudy” policy of “inspired by” doesn’t follow the law.

I agree too! Let’s be for real, if you’re using AI for patterns, you won’t get testers, followers, and you gain nothing! But if you make your own patterns with creativity your off your screen and you get to take your time and make patterns that everyone loves! ribblr is with no piracy or AI patterns but the thing ribblr does have from the picture are cute puppets:]

Yes! No AI on Ribblr! This newbie is very grateful you do this! I’m terrified of accidentally getting an AI pattern that doesn’t work (not savvy enough to spot them yet…).

I 100% agree with you. AI is pervasive and has begun to seep into all aspects of our lives. We can’t believe most of what we see, hear or read nowadays. It’s getting harder and harder to tell what is truly hand made art versus ‘fake’ AI generated slop.
With a few exceptions, AI is, in my opinion, fraud. It’s like kids getting their mum to do their projects, assignments and homework. It’s laziness.
As you put it, AI, removes the creativity of individuals, removes the ‘learning’ associated with making errors and growing from them.
The overwhelming use of AI, I’ve seen personally, relates to the handmade and craft industry. The images that are created by AI and sold as someone’s ‘art’, emblazoned on t-shirts, used as ‘wraps’ on mugs, and so much more is shameful. So called “creators” are saturating our market with computer generated slop. It is most obviously seen over on e*!sy. I personally won’t shop their as their morals are simply non-existent. It’s all about making money…fast, for the shareholders. Gone are the days of authenticity, supporting the real maker and giving them a platform to showcase their talents.
AI to me, is being used, in many instances, by “those who can’t”, (don’t have the skill or ability to do a particular task and are too lazy to learn), to give the illusion that they can.
I feel that any use of AI should be disclosed clearly and obviously to the ‘consumer’ not in the fine print hidden somewhere on the product/page etc, so consumers can chose for themselves whether or not to purchase this fake and fraudulent ‘art’.
I’m so very pleased and grateful that you, and more broadly, Ribblr, have taken a firm stand on not allowing AI to be used on this platform. We support this ‘fight back’ against what can only be described as fraud. We know we have at least one small corner of the world we feel safe and supported.

Natural stupidity is very well said. I am going to talk about that tomorrow in school. Benefits of homeschooling .
We are talking about the challenges of AI. My oldest said one problem is calling it intelligence in the first place.
We also discussed the displacement of humans from creative jobs and employment in general. I hate the idea of people losing their ability to work especially when they have a desire to work because of AI.
I love the organic nature of the creative process and the results found in the various forms of art. I definitely don’t want to lose human art in exchange for uncanny unnatural perfection. The excitement for art and for what we do as fiber gurus, sewing wizards, and other creative artisans would surely fizzle out into a flat nothingness as machines do what we used find as a source of delight.

I’ve been feeling so depressed about the emergence of AI into the craft scene (including some companies cough cough proudly announcing their wide usage of it to literally replace creatives). I’ll admit, I haven’t logged into my Ribblr account in a good minute, but your unequivocally anti-AI stance has pulled me right back into this community. I’ll be spending a few bucks here today and encouraging my friends to join so that we’re all being intentional with our money and ensuring it goes to places that support human creativity!

I agree, making a pattern good takes experience and creativity. I was just wondering if maybe you and your team could also write a blog on how to spot AI patterns. I fear I’d probably not even recognise it but would love to make sure I do so I can report any I see on here. I love that Ribblr supports creatives and I’m sure the community would love to help
