When I came onto ribblr I was so happy not to see any more fake patterns becuase I hate wasting money on a really cute pattern and finding out that it was written by ai and it wasn’t just the picture that was ai, so i’m glad that your making ribblr a ai free zone

This is exactly why I love Ribblr. No AI slop, just a fun crafting experience. I am so glad I found this app it helped me so much on my crochet journey. And Ribbot is such a cute mascot!

Thank you for posting this. I am new to Ribblr, but one of the reasons I joined was because the patterns were personally crafted. While I like the look of the AI patterns, we all know that the finished product never looks the same. I was so impressed that you removed several AI patterns personally.
I shared Ribblr and this post to a designer friend of mine who is now already working on setting up a shop set here. His patterns are wonderfully designed and often include beginner and intermediate/advanced instructions. He also is available pretty much 24/7 if you need help or clarification on any of the instructions. And he is also always looking for tips to improve or enhance the design. I can’t wait for the Ribblr to be introduced to his wide variety of patterns.

Mine also. If I am in doubt about a pattern, I Google the “designer” as well as the name of the pattern and ask for a review. From there I can find out the experience of others and if it is AI. If the designer is someone I have t heard of, I go to social media if I can’t find anything through goggle (always a red flag as is too cute, too realistic, and odd looking stitches if you have been crocheting or knitting for very long, to see if they are posting on any social media, in case they are just starting out as a designer. If it is a Designer on social media my next step is to see if they have a video tutorial of them crocheting something. I have been caught out once when they first began popping up, so I no longer trust anyone new tome. If I have bought patterns or downloaded freebies from the designer, and a new pattern of theirs pops up for free or for sale, I do not hesitate to get it.if it is a designer Ihave not hears of and doesn’t really seem to be known, I do t waste my time or my money. Even the free patterns with AI suck. I have left shops who have begun allowing AI to be put up, or even just AI to make a graphic of the end product because “it is faster for the designer to get a pic without wasting effort on lighting and to either design and make it up themselves or get testers and they make it up. If they are not getting a real finished project, how do we know they didn’t just get an AI to make it? If there is AI involved in any bit of it, I am just not interested. And if I discover a designer I like has begun using AI in their designing? They are removed from my trusted file of designers and put in a “Never Buy From Them Again” file. Thankfully I don’t have many in the second file. I think most designers understand the general public don’t want AI trash. And they generally don’t like it either. It seems to be the scammers just looking to make a fast buck just as they do in other areas of life. I try to leave some kind of message to give a heads up to other fellow crafters when I come across AI garbage.
I stopped using Pinterest if looking for something specific to make and report the AI pages and click to see the pattern and the design advertised isn’t on the site, but other poor quality designed items are there. I reported a number of them as scams and Pinterest algorithm didn’t find them to have gone against their community guidelines. I deleted my account and won’t go back. I block them as well. It seems because they are being allowed that the scammers know and the AI trash is so prevalent now.
I would personally love to have a page on here or another group listing the places they have found AI being posted or sold, the designer’s name and shop selling their designs where we can all use it to check to see if something is safe or to it is AI. This would be useful for everyone but especially folks new to it all. Maybe these scam artists would crawl back under their rocks again if they knew Crafters had places to go to stop the crafters from getting scammed by them.

There are a great many AI patterns as well as bait and switch things where you find something nice and go to their page to find many things available but not what was advertised to make you visit their page. I hate that as much as I hate AI patterns and I block both.
But I take the time to read the comments on the shared item to see if it is AI. Crafters are really good about notifying others because Pinterest doesn’t care and keeps them running.
I use other social media for searching for patterns including YouTube, Instagram, Ravelry, Etsy, and of course Ribblr. I still use Pinterest for other things but rarely for my yarn crafts as I just hate the AI stuff and cannot support it in anyway. I used to use Hobbii’s site for buying patterns and grab the yarn at the same time but am now boycotting them due to their AI nonsense. Crafting, to me is a work in progress, I often make my own things as I need them and there is a joy to that. I don’t sell my designs though. I love working others designs up to see how they turn out. Sometimes I follow the pattern closely and other times I make changes to meet my needs/tastes, using it as a general guide, a bit like I do recipes when I cook. But, if I wanted something soulless, I would just buy the product in the store premade.
