Should we create our own Ribblr yarn? 🧶🤔 (vote to help us decide)

Hey Ribblrs!

I am completely blown away by how many of you have reached out following my recent post about saying no to AI patterns.

This opened up so many wonderful chats. And one of the things that kept coming up in my conversations with other Ribblrs was the feeling of being neglected by most craft/yarn companies.

And I have to agree. So many companies that I absolutely loved lower their quality of yarn, increase prices, let go of their creative team and have zero support available. I think it comes down to having a purpose and not just following a profit.

Ever since our partnership with Joann has ended, we’ve been toying with the idea of launching our own Ribblr yarn. Yarn made and sold by actual crafters. And so - I wanted to bring this up to you. Up for a community vote.

Should we launch our own Ribblr yarn?

  • YES to Ribblr yarn :yarn:
  • No, I’m good

If we see the community is behind it - we’ll create it together with you all. Vote on colors, yarns, and more. Keeping you in the loop every step of the way. (no pun intended!)

Vote above and let me know your thoughts in the comments!

Yours,
Lir :purple_heart:

thank you both :purple_heart:

Anything specific you’d like to see? for example linking to your projects, auto adding to stash, specific yarns/colors etc.

Also feel free to let me know where you currently get your yarn and why you do/don’t like it!

i also believe yarn prices overall are quite expensive

i currently get yarn from various retailers in china, since it is way cheaper and still good quality. That being said, it also takes about 1 month, so i need to buy in advance.

i also think there isnt enough real orange colored yarn

most of the yarn i see is yellow orange or red orange

This is an amazing idea! I agree that most yarn companies are either overpriced or just low quality, so I feel like having a yarn by Ribblr would be really beneficial.

Awesome! Do you shop locally right now or buy internationally ?

I shop both locally and internationally. Sometimes it’s hard to find certain yarns locally in the UAE, so I order online. It would be amazing if your yarn could be available internationally too so it is not expensive

Maybe less fraying and splitting nd it glides easily I usually use chunky yarn my favorite is premier parfait chunky. And I also use acrylic blends. So maybe make a variety of yarn types
