Hi all! I was asked by a friend to crochet a necktie for her son who is going on a mission. He has requested the Ecuador flag colors as that’s where he is going. I need advice for the best yarn type to use. He needs it to be durable and machine wash/dry care. I have thought about cotton yarn but know there might be something better. Any advice would be wonderful!

i would use Acrylic its the only yarn i know and maybe stay away from chunky not like anyone would hehe

I think the best yarn for this project would be an acrylic or a cotton/acrylic blend.
I would recommend 100% cotton. It’s durable, machine washable and also won’t shed microplastics in the wash unlike synthetic yarns.
I think a cotton/cotton blend would be great!
