I’d like to start designing patterns, but I don’t know what to make. Do you have any suggestions? Also should it be free or paid? Here’s a Charlie picture

I’m not super educated in designing patterns but I say if it’s your first one maybe make it free and start charging once your more comfortable with designing patterns, and do smth your comfortable with like if you do blankets make a blanket pattern, same with amigurumi. But this is all just what I would do and I have no experience so you don’t have to listen to me

I suggest startings small, and doing something like a keychain, bookmark, or accessory.
For detailed ideas, I highly suggest checking the Pattern Wiki!

There are multiple versions of Charlie in crochet but I’ve never made a pattern, I just used other people patterns. That’s a good idea! here’s a picture of the biggest one.

I started with amigurumi patterns and all of my patterns are free. You can make your patterns free or paid it is entirely your choice!
And some easy patterns that I suggest making are simple amigurumi animals with not to many limbs like snakes or simple birds or something else, or hats/bags. I have not really tried making much else besides hats, bags and amigurumis 
Also If you want to make bags i would suggest making simple granny square bags or drawstring bags
