Book idea! I think this is cool

This is just an idea, so no guarantees I’ll write it, but lemme know if it’s interesting!

So, what if there’s a person (who I’m giving autism and gender fluidity because I can) who finds a mirror, but it isn’t really a mirror… it’s a time portal that leads to their future self. They go through the portal and find their old, frail self and immediately have questions about the future.

The future person tells them that the day after they stepped through the portal, their life takes a turn down a sad road. Their future self tells them about all the bad memories they had, and after the past person begins to panic and cry because their future is filled with sadness.

Then their future self tells them that one choice threw them down the sad road, and said that every thing the future one did that day, the past one should do different.

So the past one leaves and goes through their routine, but the following day after meeting their future self, they did everything different from what they would’ve done, and everything works out:)

This is kinda stale, so I might spice it up if I ever get around to writing it.

That sounds really cool! A bit dark, but what if they don’t manage to change the future? I feel like that’s a much more unique ending than magically being to make the right choices that lead them back to a good path

Ooh, what if it splits?

A good ending AND a bad ending?

What if chapters will alternate, showing each event from the good version and the bad!

Like, maybe it’s like, their old self tells them their future is bad, and then it actually shows the good and bad versions of each event? Like the old one doesn’t specify the events, but then the rest of the book is following both good and bad routes?

Yes. I think it would also be cool if like there where some bad things her future self warned her about that even though she fixed that one decision, she makes a wrong one later on and the ā€œsame thingā€ happens. If you’d rather a book with a super happy ending, I wouldn’t do that, but I think the book would go to show that even if you could change something in your life you can’t make it all good and sometimes your going to mess up.

Well, their life wouldn’t be perfect after that day. It’s just better.

or maybe, not even? What if it seems better at first, but then it still ends up sad? It’s just the same sad road, but the way they took that drive was different.

You’re good! I get really excited, too, when I meet someone with the same favourite shows and music!

If you ever need help I would love to. I’m pretty good at drawing, and decent at writing. If I’m being totally honest I’m good at coming up with awesome book ideas and then never turning them into books, or trying and they never turn out like how I thought they would :joy:

I just realized I just stole your idea, but just said it differently.

Sorry!

ASHEUS

THAT IDEA IS SOOOOOO GOOD

i have an idea for the sad road

like, imagine that the sad road is the only path to take. im thinking the sad road could be the loss of a loved one, but they think it’s their fault (ex: say they went shopping with their parent and they arrived home and they realized they forgot to somewhere, so the parent goes alone and smth happens.) and then the past them realizes:

ā€˜This future cannot be changed..?’

also, i only wrote this cuz i didn’t want to repeat what some of y’all said…
