When I was in undergrad, crochet was something that helped me to stay focused when I was in class. I’m diagnosed autistic and likely have undiagnosed ADHD (not just because of symptoms, my brother is diagnosed AuDHD and statistics and genetics indicate that I’m more likely to have it than not - but also the symptoms are there too), and crochet helped me immensely with staying engaged in class without being disruptively fidgety or going into infodump mode while class was related to my special interests (which uhhhhh happened a lot in my major lmaooooooo). It is still super helpful as a way of staying grounded and centered, and especially if the project is something more complex such as lace, it gives me a socially acceptable excuse to not make eye contact with people.
All this to say, I think the hobby is great for neurodivergent people in general. :D

I agree! It helps keep my hands busy along with giving me something real to work on,I have very extreme hallucinations both audio and visual so crochet has taken away some of the stress slightly.
