De-Stash December (Stashbust September continues!)

End results for the 5th destash week (Sep. 29 - Oct. 5)

So as mentioned in the previous post I ran out of yarn for my Halloween costume and haven’t gotten more yet. As for destashing I did finish 3 skeins of Lion Brand Coboo in white for the pattern I’m testing! (Since it’s during testing I won’t share progress photos just yet) But it’s coming along splendidly!

Can’t wait to see what prompts/inspiration for the new weeks will be

I’m so sorry yall, I had to finish up a pattern test and work had me in a stranglehold again, but I’m back now and I’ll be catching up here shortly!

You can also expect the (belated) prompt list to hit tomorrow, so I’ll be sure to keep week 1 easy breezy since it’s coming at you so late. Things should be much better now in terms of my keeping up with the thread. It was a doozy of a transition is all I can say!

I hope all of your Octobers have gotten off to a good start!

(Edit: I just realized I never did the spin for week 4 :sob: Thank you all for being so patient.

Week 4’s winner is @Madeformygirl - feel free to send me a message or respond with a pattern of your choice or say surprise me and I’ll pick one from your wishlist. Congratulations - thank you for taking part in our little challenge here! )

No worries! Hope the transition is over and everything has settled by now

Still going to try to respond to everyone before I zonk tonight, but wanted to give you this month and week’s prompt so you can get started:

This month will be all about challenging you to step into the unknown, but like…way less dramatic than it sounds, haha! September was about trying different types of projects, whereas this month we will be facing our fiber fears and finding fun new ways to engage with our craft! The final two weeks will be explained in greater detail as the days draw nigh. :black_heart:

This week’s prompt is a simple one, especially since I’m late to post, but essentially you’ll be using a pattern you already own/have had your eyes on for awhile, but haven’t had a chance to work on, yet. We are dusting off the cobwebs on our unused/unloved patterns and finally taking them for a spin. You can also just use a pattern that’s totally new to you for this prompt. ^.^

(I don’t know about you all, but I hoard patterns like a dragon and my pattern collection may even rival my yarn collection, so this is definitely a theme I will be personally revisiting as the weeks go on. )

As for the bonus prompt this week, my question for all of you is: Do you tend to collect patterns faster than you can work them like me, or do you keep on top of your pattern stash?

I’ll be destocking from my: Yarns and pattern stash

My goal(s): Maybe finish writing up a pattern

My project(s): I’ll probably work on a Christmas gift, which is a crochet Moo Deng! I have it in my WIP since at the time I couldn’t find a pattern and was working on one, perhaps I’ll either finish writing the pattern and the amigurumi or use this adorable YouTube pattern I found for Moo Deng! Both my pattern and the video are unused patterns  Not sure if I will do either or work on another pattern I haven’t made before.

I tend to collect patterns faster than I can craft them and have much more than yarn for sure! Which probably means I should go through them and archive/remove them so it isn’t as cluttered. Many patterns I saved while I was starting out so as I’ve grown and gotten more patterns some I could probably remove since I don’t see myself making them anymore

I decided to use a new pattern to make my brother some fingerless gloves to match the hat I’m giving to him for Christmas!

Edit: finished the first one!
I’m not liking the pattern that much (a lot of it doesn’t make sense or add up) but it worked up really quickly!

I feel you on the free time; I swear once August is over the year just seems to zoom by! I am so eager to see the dress once you’re all finished if you decide to share, though I love progress shots so feel free to share those even if they don’t fit the specific theme of the week! I do not envy you the tapestry blanket, though it sounds like you’ll be making some people very happy this holiday season! Make sure to take breaks for those hands <3

Thank you - I’ve finally gotten on top of it! ^.^

That’s a bummer about the sizing error, but I’m glad the cardigan was not a loss!
Your fave makes for this month are all adorable - I’m honored Lulu is amongst them!

You’re seriously my stashbust challenge inspo, haha! I’m amazed how much you accomplish each week!

Oh my goodness, that cyclops is so fun and a great addition to the bookshelf! I know what you mean - people are so creative with their different interpretationd of myths!

Also thank you for showing me this new channel/crochet designer - mushroom dragon has definitely got fall vibes and yours is turning out quite adorable!

Thank you - me too! And Complicatedknots seems to be a popular designer in this little group here, haha! Yarn can really make or break the enjoyment of a project - I definitely understand where you’re coming from there. Hopefully you were able to make some headway on the skeleton project, even if just a little bit!

Woohooo!! How did you like working with the Coboo? I have some that I haven’t used up, yet, but the blend was speaking to me, haha. It was also probably on sale the day I bought it >.< I’m glad the testing is going well and that you’re making such steady progress on your costume - hope you’re able to get some more yarn to work on it again soon! I’m super excited to see what you all do for the coming weeks’ themes. :heavy_heart_exclamation:

And yes FINALLY. Haha! I’m just so grateful I can finally interact with y’all again. Nothing like a busy work week to make you appreciate time spent on your hobbies and engaging with your fellow crafters. <3

I’m with you! Since starting my new job, I feel like I have such limited time to work on all the patterns I’ve acquired. I’m hopeful we’ll all be able to knock out one (or a few) from our collections, haha!

ME TOO! I’m genuinely scared to look at how many I’ve got just on Ribblr - I wouldn’t be surprised if it was nearing half a thousand, which is ofc not including any of the ones I’ve acquired through Etsy, Ko-Fi, or Ravelry. :grimacing: I’m not sure who I thought was going to make all those patterns, but apparently I needed them…

I hope you all will enjoy them! I’m looking forward to them, too - this bunch always has something interesting to share!

SAME! :handshake: My goal is to tackle a few at least, but we will see how the rest of this week plays out! Hope this week is indeed good for you!!

OOOOH, what’s the pattern for (if you don’t mind me asking) or did you mean finishing the Moo Deng pattern?

SPEAKING OF Moo Deng!!! Oh my gosh that ETM’s Studio one is so cute, I love the biting mouth  I saw a really cute plush style one the other day, by crochetbygenna that I’ll probably eventually make myself, but I love how pint-sized the ETM’s one is!

One of the myriad goals I had for this challenge was to do just that and sort out/work through my pattern collection, haha. I think that’s a great idea to archive the patterns you’ve either already used or outgrown, so to speak, to get a better sense of higher priority projects or see those patterns that might be buried alive :joy:

Ahh fabulous and so generous! Lovely yarn and so perfect for the season/holiday! Your brother is lucky  I’m sorry the pattern is confusing/challenging, but the one you’ve got looks great so far - fortunately it appears you have enough knitting knowledge to improvise!

If anyone has wips for last week they want to share so I can add your name to the pool, feel free to do so! I’ll be drawing for Week 5 tomorrow. <3

As for me, I was working on a pattern test for an unreleased pattern, so I’ll just share a couple wip photos, though I did finish up with the entire project yesterday! Will update when I can share the final result ^.^

It really does! And I’m so busy October-January that I have to really focus to get my projects done in the little free time I have:sob:
I’ll definitely be posting more pictures of the dress! I have no idea when I’m gonna get it done though, it’s taken the back burner with all the holiday projects I have to do lol. I’m super excited about the tapestry blanket! My parents definitely aren’t expecting it:skull:

I know I have over 600 amigurumi patterns just on Pinterest:sob: I must have soooo many on ribblr and raverly with how many I save

Yes Lulu is so adorable! Also glad the cardigan will still be used for someone! Honestly I’m surprised how much I manage to get done too!

I love it! I’ve used it before to knit a cardigan and it feels so nice! Since it is a blend of cotton and bamboo is does tend to split but all natural fiber yarns split so as long as you expect it/dealt with it before it’s easier to manage, I don’t have much trouble with it thankfully. It’s my go to yarn for garments!

The pattern is just something I’m writing as I make Moo Deng, of course it’s really trial and error and I’ve made some mistakes already but after free handing an amigurumi that I love and can’t replicate since I didn’t write the pattern I vowed to write all things I’m making so I can replicate/edit if I ever decide to no matter how ugly it looks :joy:

Yes it was so adorable!! Thanks for sharing another pattern now I have to decide between the two! I’m thinking of double/triple stranding my yarn to maybe make it bigger not sure just yet

And no kidding about the patterns! I was looking through some and genuinely forgot I owned some of them!

You’re WIP’s look amazing and those colors!!! I love it  what yarn is it? :yarn:

Also just a quick update of some yarn destashing I did last week here’s a cute pattern made for scrap yarn! I managed to finish the premier just chenille mint green(?) yarn and some of the brown and red Medlay yarn as well
