Forgot to post the picture last week, but here’s how the dress is looking!

Here’s my WIP project - it’ll be a blanket for my dad.
I used cross stitch diagrams I found on Pinterest. Will add the links later.

My first make from the adorable kitty cafe pattern (thanks again @foxfrogandfern )

Bonus: yes, i totally collect more patterns than I’ll ever get through in several life times. If my daughter likes it then I’ll probably end up doing it. Following other people’s patterns isnt my favourite thing though because sewing breaks me out in a sweat and theres usually so.much.sewing. i try to put as little sewing as possible in mine :joy:

Results for Oct. 6 - October 12

I’ve been going through my pattern list and archiving some I probably won’t use (still have to look through since I have a lot!) But I did manage to make 2 unused and a new pattern!

I used some of the unlabeled yellow skein and some black with Mainstays white yarn

I actually discovered some skeins of yarn I wasn’t aware I had so I plan on destashing those yarns! I saw I had that blue color and another pinkish purple(?) color

This was just a quick make I made

Definitely going to be taking a look through them through Destocktober and seeing what patterns to make! I also worked a bit on the cardigan I’m testing and on the Moo Deng

This week’s challenge is COLOR! Play with color in any way that you like, either through your yarn choice, pattern, or different techniques!

If you feel up to sharing with the group, would love to know if you like to experiment with color in your projects or if you tend towards certain hues (or even families of them)? What color or colors feature most heavily in your stash?

Remember, you don’t have to do any of these projects (or patterns exclusive to Ribblr), but they’re here to serve as some inspo for this week!

Bread already answered this, but absolutely all are welcomed!

And if you have any questions, please let me know! You can also go to the first post if you have any questions about a week’s specific prompts or need to more easily find things!

I got sick pretty much all of this week, so I’m playing catch up with my blanket:sob:
I think this week I’m gonna work on colorwork with the blanket, work on the dress, work on the spiderweb sweater I just started, and on the oogie boogie hat that I may or may not ever finish!!
I don’t think I have enough time to start any new colorful projects:sob:
Although the oogie boogie hat does have like 4 colors, so I might work on that more lol

Destocking from: Yarn and Pattern stashes

Goal: Hopefully use up some more yarn and go through my pattern stash!

Projects: Actually the Starburst charm you linked is a pattern I planned to use for this week!

For colors I tend to follow what the pattern or animal I’m making since I use amigurumi but I honestly love all the colors, however I go through black, white, red and green often!

Hello friends! My mom’s antique shop is expanding, so I got a bit busy with helping her move things around this past week. However, I’m able to finally sit and type up my responses to your lovely works on my laptop, so you’ll probably get a wave of replies tonight! Apologies for what are sure to be multiple posts.

I forgot for the final week of last month’s challenge I was going to actually treat everyone who joined in for the month to a pattern from their wishlist, so if you participated at all during September’s Stashbuster, feel free to send me a message with your desired pattern or reply to the thread, and I’ll get those sent out ASAP!

I also hadn’t shared my project from last week, yet, but I made this scarecrow pattern I had been eyeing for awhile!

I just thought it was such a unique and cute pattern that I wanted to try my hand at making one; it also was a belated seasonal make for me! I used up some of my plush yarn stash, which is one I’m trying to reduce a bit, so that was awesome!

I’m excited to see how you all interpret this week’s theme, and I’ll give you an earlier start on next week’s prompt in a few days just so y’all can plan!

It’s a lot of fun, but also a lot of work! And thank you; me too! I’m trying to find time between the chaos to crochet and, moreover, join in as much as possible because I really mean it when I say I love checking this thread and hearing from you all.

We’re always happy to have you here, even if you’re not working on the theme of the week, please feel free to share any of your projects or fiber arts goals here that you would like to!

That Starburst charm seems like a great way to get rid of scrap yarn and a quick, rewarding project, too! It makes sense to me that those colors might be more prominent in amigurumi and why you might go through them more quickly!

It’s fascinating how certain colors can unintentionally predominate our makes and whatnot. When I’m working on my projects it seems so random, but when I look at the aggregate of my projects I can definitely see my favoritism for warmer colors and earthy greens and oranges (which make sense, given how much I am drawn to them naturally).

Oh my goodness, I’m so sorry you were ill. :sob: I hope you’re feeling better. :bouquet:

That sounds like quite the lineup of projects, wow! But they all sound so fun and unique!

And that’s okay - you don’t have to start anything new! You’re welcome to revisit any projects you like during this challenge, whether you started them before the challenge, separately from the challenge, or even just at a different point in our challenge. :heavy_heart_exclamation: Good luck with your endeavors! Cheering you on!

Way to go, that llama looks llama-zing…:joy: - sorry couldn’t resist! I’m eager to get the pattern and see it in full! Also what brand/color is that brown yarn? (If you know/don’t mind sharing - it’s a really nice shade. :star_struck: )

Great job!! Also…me RN

(trying and, tbh, failing to contain my excitement)

Love It Wow GIF
It’s such a relief when that happens - I’m glad you were able to make it without having to buy more! Also congrats on the order and finishing the order; that’s wonderful!! Round of applause for you, dear!

Eep!!! I’m so stoked you were able to make a little cutie from that pattern already - oh my gosh! Really like the funfetti-esque yarn paired with the chocolate! Can’t wait to see any other treat kitties you decide to make from that pattern!

If I would just evolve into my final ocotopus form maybe I could get them all done :joy: It’s so sweet how involved your daughter is in the creation decision process - warms my heart. :sparkling_heart: And I definitely can understand trying to bypass the sewing, haha. I had actually wanted to make my Lulu pattern no-sew, and I likely could have with a little more time to work out the mechanics, but I was already way past schedule, lol; anyway, I can asbolutely appreciate wanting to avoid it as much as possible  and think it’s so cool you’re able to adapt patterns (like with the cat ice cream cone) to suit your preferences as such!

I can’t even go on Pinterest because I already know I would just be on there all day looking at patterns instead of actually making anything :face_holding_back_tears:

I can def understand when those personal projects have to take a back seat, but honestly looks like you were making pace on that puppy (I’m a slow knitter, so I’m always awestruck when it doesn’t take someone half a century to finish a project haha)! That neckline detailing is lovely, and I like the yarn choice, too! I’m not sure if it’s a trick of the light, but the yarn looks almost tonal? Regardless, it’s coming out so nice!

Look at those! Great colorwork! Does your dad know about the blanket or is it a surprise gift? Either way, sure to delight him and such a sweet undertaking :gift_heart:

The cross stich diagram worked super well - gonna have to try that out some time!

Oooh! That’s all really good to know - thank you for sharing your experience (and tips for working) with it! I’m glad you have a yarn you can rely on for garment projects!

I have used some cotton and bamboo yarn (separately, not blended) and know what you mean regarding the splittiness, but honestly it doesn’t bother me too much, especially if the result is nice! Now I’m even more excited to work with it :grimacing:

I’m really looking forward to seeing your Moo Deng whenever you make it/finish! And that’s so funny  I’m sure it looks plenty adorable, though!

Every time I go to make an inspo post I’m like oooh wow, what a pretty pattern, and then I click and see I’ve already favorited it or own it

Thank you re: my wip! The yarn is Loops & Threads Facets yarn - pretty much all the colorways are absolutely beatiful! Can be a challenge to work with, but I honestly haven’t run into many issues, especially if I ball or wind my yarn first (the fibers like to really stick together/catch so I would avoid for any project where there is the higher likelihood of frogging), but genuinely the color payoff is so worth it. I lowkey want to experiment using it on an amigurumi project, perhaps a dragon or something.

What a little cutie you made - awesome you used up scrap yarn for it! Sounds like it’s time for a destash dance party!
