De-Stash December (Stashbust September continues!)

Yes the patterns you gave for inspiration was a great help!! Glad to hear everything is getting back to normal. Definitely feeling better thankfully the black mold was just triggering my allergies and not something worse, I rarely get allergies so once I got a symptom I only get during allergies I started looking to see what was causing it and thankfully I found it!

Thank you also excited to see what other home decors I make, probably will be later throughout the Stashbust September since I’m currently knitting an amigurumi, I guess I’m getting a head start for next week  I’ll show all the amigurumi I’m making for next week since it’s close by plus this will be a big Stashbust for me! So excited to share all the yarn I’ll be destashing!!

I did finish the small placemat, and it looks so beautiful! Here’s the finished photo after steam blocking it! I managed to finish one cake of the black yarn and worked on another of the yarn cake

Oh thank goodness. I’m so glad to hear you’re feeling better, and it wasn’t something more dire. :sunflower:

A knitted AMI - SO EXCITING! You really are ahead of the game. :joy: Def getting a gold star for stashbust September!
gold star good job GIF
I will be greatly anticipating your contributions to next week’s theme!

Your placemat came out lovely indeed! Isn’t it amazing how something so simple can add so much to a space?! And you’re making such great work burning through your stash!

Finally was able to start on my project for this prompt last night - I def won’t be finishing tonight, but I do think I’ll finish up by tomorrow because it works up fast!

For this theme, I wanted to eat into my blanket yarn stash because it takes up a lot of space and I would like to cut down a little so I can better see/organize what I do have! I’m using 5 colors to make a throw version of this blanket by one of my fave designers noelebellecrochet:

I love Neena’s designs because you can see the thoughtfulness behind them; just reading the pattern description on this one will give you an idea of what I mean.

Using a 10mm hook because my tension is quite relaxed, especially when working on a project that is larger and repeats for an extended period of time. I’m almost done with the first color and will be moving onto the next color soon! Here’s my lineup of colors:

This also checks the box for two other objectives of mine wrt Stashbust September which were to work on project types that I don’t often delve into and to work through my Ribblr pattern hoard stash. I’m interested to see how this color combo works out. ^.^

Oh! And for the bonus prompt: I’m definitely an experimentalist! If I think it looks interesting, either the texture or color, I’m down to try it. I don’t have a particular brand that is like my holy grail brand, but I find I naturally gravitate to DK (weight 3) yarns. I think I like them because they’re so versatile, but also it seems like there’s a good variety of hues and fibers available.

Thanks lol  might be mix knit and crochet amigurumi

Also those colors are going to look great for the blanket!!! Excited to see the final product

I can’t believe another week is already behind us, but I wanted to get an earl(ier) start this week since I fell behind last week.

The prompt for Week 3 of Stashbust September (and beyond) is: Toys, Plushies, Amigurumi, & Hobbies!

Written text from photo

Examples: softies, amigurumi, loveys/snugglers/cuddlers, dolls, hook/needle cases, pin cushions, play food, blocks, balls, pet toys, yarn cozies, fidgets/stim, craft supply holders, costumes/cosplay, games, reusable water balloons, mobiles (not the phone variety, unless for play), rattles, puppets, quiet/busy/soft books, etc.

*Your item does not have to be for a kiddo, but it can be!

*The item doesn’t have to be for play, but it can be!

*Whereas the focus of previous challenges was on decorative or functional purpose, the emphasis this week is imagination - whether encouraging it, embodying it, or facilitating it.

Bonus prompt(s): do you usually make items for yourself, your loved ones, or to sell? Or are you a pretty equal mix? WHAT’S the last thing you made for yourself (not for testing, selling, or gifting)? The last thing you made as a gift? To sell?

Inspo post is coming soon, but you’ll notice I don’t have much in the way of plushies/amigurumi and that’s purely because ribblr has SO MANY options in that respect, and I’m sure we are already acquainted with that particular category.

(I’ll give people another day or so to get their wip photos in and spin for our week 2 winner then! :heartbeat:)

Yay!! This is my strong suit lol

Here’s a whole host of inspiration for you to soak up, but ofc the myriad of patterns dedicated to plushies/amigurumi belong here too! As usual, no need to pick a pattern from this inspo post, just to get the ideas flowing :3

(Can you tell I have a thing for these?)

I’ll be destashing from my: Yarns, patterns and maybe my WIP

My goal(s): To get rid of some of my unlabeled yarn, unused yarn from an extra project and some yarn that’s hard to use

The Project(s): There’s actually several that I’m currently working on a knit octopus that will probably have some crochet (Photo 1). I plan on double stranding all the yarn so it’s going by faster. I also plan on making a crochet lemon meringue cow (Photo 3) Also photo 2 was some yarn I used to test a Pumpkin Fenrir and successfully finished two of the small black cakes of chenille yarn! Also if I have time I’ll work on some WIP of some crochet sheep using the black and white unlabeled yarn

Yarn(s): Lion Brand - Wool Ease in color White/Multi, Premier - Just Yarn Plush in color Night Sky, and some unlabeled light yellow yarn, white and black yarn

Needle: ChiaoGoo 6(4.0mm)
Crochet hook: not sure just yet, currently just knitting

My finished for pumpkin Fenrir

Most of the things I make are for my self but if someone wants it I usually sell/gift it since I don’t have much space lol

First September destash (week 1-7)

Summary

I’ll be destashing from my: WIPs and Yarns

My goal(s): To finish the WIP and/or finish the skeins for this WIP

The WIP: A knit shawl , here’s the current photo from my WIP. Click here for pattern on YouTube

Yarn(s): Lion Brand - Boogie Nights in High Roller (3 skeins)

I’m still on the first skein. It’s hard to capture the color of the yarn, but it does feel soft, this yarn is solely for the WIP so hopefully it’s the exact amount! Or at the very least whatever’s leftover is enough to make something else

Needles: Using Susan Bates circular knitting needles US 11/8.0mm - 24 inch/61 cm

I’ll for sure update when I finish the shawl or at the end of the week, maybe when I finish a skein and show some progress to see how far along that skein went

Summary

So some updates with some bad and good news  First here’s my first comment with my info all in the summary for those interested

So bad news: I’ve been a bit under the weather so I haven’t done as much as I would like and I actually spent almost the entire day trying to go through one of the skeins since it was a tangled, knotted mess :mask::persevere: I ended up having to cut some of the yarn and knot them back together since it was starting to get a bit thin with all the moving to untie it

The good news!! I actually thought I was on my 1st skein of three turns out it was actually my second skein! I just finished it so I’m on my third and last skein! I managed to untie all the knots and cake it up so while I will have to weave in the ends of the knots it’ll be smooth sailing! And while it is a bit thinner (not much) it does mean it’s a bit longer now too lol  I also tested a pattern yesterday and finished one skein of unused chenille yarn that I planned to destash so that’s good! Since the wearable prompt ends tomorrow I’ll probably share the final photo at the end of the day, hopefully I can finish it today or tomorrow! Really want my knitting needles back lol

Also I love reading and seeing what everyone else is up too!

Second September destash (week 8-14)

Summary

I’ll be destashing from my: Yarns

My goal(s): To get rid of some of my unlabeled yarn

The Project: I want to make a placemat or desk/shelf cover for a shelf so it looks nice. It’ll be simple just a square/rectangle and I plan to use the shell stitch for it

Yarn(s): A black yarn that unfortunately I lost the label to and can’t remember what it was, I have several yarns like that and want to destash them since I honestly have no clue what it is lol if I have to guess it’s a weight 4 yarn

Crochet hook: I’ll be using a Boye H-5.00mm

Also I did manage to finish the knit shawl from the first week, and all three skeins! It’s too long to take a photo but I did get a photo of it folded. Here it is!

I just need to weave in all the yarn ends but it’s done! Probably have to block it to make the back longer. The border even if I didn’t manage to get a good photo of it looks beautiful!
I’m debating whether I should make several home/office decor since I’m sure I’ll get this done today, the only issue is finding a place for it lol

My go to yarn is probably worsted weight specifically Bernat super saver yarn but honestly I can be a bit experimental since if it’s on sale I’ll gravitate towards it  Also the examples are great! Giving me ideas not only for the prompt but gift ideas for others I haven’t thought of!! Sorry to hear about the regression of your illness!

That’s awesome! Ohh a set?! I’m intrigued!

Glad it is timely for you, Loaf!!

That’s so sweet!! I’m excited to see it when you get a chance to photo it ; I’m sure your brother loved it!

I have the sheep and the octopus in my faves, too - they’re both absolutely adorable! Tbh, I’m super curious about the octo because it’s knit and knit softies seem to be less common than crocheted softies!

Your pumpkin version of Fenrir is TOO cute!!

And aww! I’m honored and so excited to see your Lulu!! If you run into any issues at all, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Good luck with all those projects! Your organization is beyond admirable; I love seeing your weekly breakdowns.

I think it’s awesome you keep a lot for yourself. One thing I’m trying to do more this year and in general is to crochet for me and my household more, since I tend to sell or gift like 95% of the things I make

He does love it!
I tried to make it look as derpy as my dog and I think it worked well lol
